I saw that earlier today Judge Merchan delayed by a couple of months the sentencing of convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, traitor, fraud, and pathological liar Donald J. Trump in the Hush Money case due to the Supreme Court’s historically abusive and corrupt immunity decision. To reevaluate the verdict in light of this decision.
But I have a simple question in response. Why? Why does this radically corrupt, illegitimate, rabidly partisan Supreme Court deserve any deference whatsoever? It sure as hell can’t be because the rule of law must be respected.
A conservative majority which makes a mockery of its alleged respect for precedent over and over again. Which makes up reasoning on the spot, regardless of whether its arguments contradict the judicial principles they supposedly hold or if there no historical ot textual justification for their made up positions
Make that a radically, historically extreme right-wing majority, two of whom were required by judicial etiquette at an absolute minimum to have recused themselves from the the abomination that was the Immunity case, the same two of whom have by strong inference can reasonably be assumed to have supported the January 6 coup. Three of whom were appointed / owe their jobs to the treasonous convicted felon at the heart of these cases. At least one more is widely thought to have perjured himself repeatedly in testimony before Congress, one of whom occupies a stolen Supreme Court seat, and still another was rammed through her confirmation hearings well after voting had started for the 2020 presidential election, and once again, making a mockery of the precedent that treasonous Mitch McConnell had established in the Senate just 4 years earlier.
After swearing under oath repeatedly their respect for stare decisis, this right-wing walking coup has treated more than 230 years of history and precedent with absolute contempt,, making shit up out of absolute whole cloth for this laughably awful immunity decision.
Who made this unelected body of 9 gods, who repeatedly render meaningless the opinions of all those who went before them meaningless?
Their contempt for precedent should be treated in kind by any and all judges underneath them. They have trashed the legitimacy if this institution and again, should be treated as such. Biased, staggeringly corrupt work products from an illegitimate institution should be treated as illegitimate, The disdain that this conservative majority has displayed for the rule of law should be met by absolute scorn and disregard for their abusive rulings.
So many god-awful rulings to choose from but this Trump immunity decision will not stand. It may take a while — so much longer than we would like — but it will indeed eventually be overturned and mocked as one of the worst decisions in Court history and as the grotesque abomination that it is.
Accordingly, I hope and pray that courts on all levels, starting with Judges Merchan and Chutkan, don’t shy away from challenging these corrupt partisan judicial hacks who have made it abundantly clear they don’t give a shit about the Rule of Law ormthe Constitution. Their opinions should be vied and treated in a manner befitting the stench that is attached to them.
Respond to their corruption and illegitimacy with the same way they have responded to the rule of law and decades or centuries of precedent — with derision, scorn, and most importantly, absolute defiance, Which,it turns out, would provide a nice counterbalance to absolute immunity, don’t ya know?
