The news of the President dropping out of the race for re-election has left me depressed, angry, and hopeless. I am still reeling from the news. Today the donors and the money spit in the face of every one of us who voted for Biden in the primary.
14,465,519 of us took time out of our day to vote for Biden in the primary. We like him. We love his foreign policy, his transition to a greener economy, and the fact he can get legislation through like no one else before. If you wanted someone else, that would have been the time to do it. That person could have campaigned and made the case. His age was no more of a concern now as it was then.
Instead, tech bros and Hollywood elites, who are not going to suffer under Trump, decided that all 14 million of us should be ignored. The polls were dead even and it’s only July. The polls showing Trump ahead had questionable methodology (Trump wins Detroit? Since when?)
BIPOC was starting to rally. The polls were starting to turn. People were working hard to make certain that he had support, and now you threw it all away?
Was it so hard to stand behind the nominee? Who is this dark horse candidate? Whitmer? Newsom?
Right now I am thinking about how I’m going to survive in a fascist regime. Trump has won. Harris cannot beat him. She’s not well liked, and given the racism and misogyny of this country, people will choose fascism over her. Maybe in 50 years after several generations are gone, but not now. All of our candidates are hyper local and ONLY work in their state.
I want the list of everyone who came out against Biden. We need to ensure they do not gain re-election. We are on the verge of falling to an autocracy, and we listened to self interested sellouts like Matthew Yglesias and Joe Manchin?
I along with everyone else who followed the rules and voted for Biden in the primary have no reason to support the Democratic party if our vote is thrown away because a rich person says so. Even if there were some in the rank and file who wanted Biden gone, they waited until the absolute worst time to do so, and why do their voices override ours without any due process? There is going to have to be a ton of damage control, and the people who did this are responsible for the obvious rift that is going to form from listening to naysayers and gossip and the press over the people who showed up and were willing to do the work to get Biden re-elected.
I am terrified and I am ENRAGED.
