Unlike the toxic narcissist Trump, and the cloying unprincipled fraud Vance, Joe Biden has dedicated his life to public service. Four years ago, he saved us from what scholars already say was the worst president ever. Now, he's saving us again. Not many politicians would have the courage and grace to do what Biden is doing.
Joe Biden has been a great president, and his poor approval ratings defy his astonishing record of achievement, and they cannot be entirely blamed on the relentlessly awful national political media. Biden's low approval ratings make me question the cognitive abilities of a majority of Americans.
Joe Biden ended the pandemic that Trump first ignored, then dismissed, then told people to deal with by injecting bleach, and which ended up killing over a million people in this country, while all but collapsing the economy. Biden then created 15 million jobs, tamed the runaway inflation caused by the confluence of the pandemic's squeeze on the supply chain with corporate profiteering and then the huge increase in demand created by all the people newly employed newly having money to spend, and sent the stock market soaring to record heights. He ended Trump's humiliating genuflecting before the world's worst dictators and healed the damage Trump did to our relationships with the world's democratic governments, and not only solidifed the world's most important military alliance that defends democracies after Trump tried to destroy it, he made it bigger and stronger than ever. He also passed the biggest climate bill ever, and is doing everything he can to protect women from the GOP's judicial and legislative attempts to deny them bodily autonomy. And he did all this despite the Republican party having become the most extreme and destructive of any major party in American history, and the balance of power in Congress being held by Nancy Pelosi's unprecedented leadership of a bare minimum House majority and a bare minimum Senate majority controlled by two petulant brats.
I could say so much more.
History will recognize Joe Biden as one of the great presidents. History will honor his having made the difficult decision not to seek a second term in office. History will laud his demonstrating what true patriotism is, not by sloganeering and grandstanding, but by doing what's in the best interest of the country despite those best interests being personally painful to him. But Biden has never put himself first. He is the consummate public servant. He did all he could while he could, and now he is going to help his hand-picked political heir to build on his accomplishments and lead the country to an even greater future.
We owe Joe Biden our gratitude and admiration. We owe it to his legacy to work as hard to get his hand-picked political heir elected as we would have to get him re-elected. A vote for Kamala Harris is a vote for Joe Biden. And most importantly, as he will be the first to emphasize, a vote for Kamala Harris is a vote for Kamala Harris. The leader he chose. The leader we need.
