I gotta be honest… 37 hours ago I wasn’t even thinking of today’s Top Comments diary. It was one hour before the monthly Pokemon Go (which both Mr. Brillig and I play, also K1 and partner) Community Day event was to start, and I was preparing my game inventory so I’d have space to play easily.
And then everything changed.
Ever since 2pm Eastern yesterday, I’ve been running through Kamala Harris-relevant diary topics only to realize I’m pretty sure everything has been written about. Sometimes multiple times! Normally I can easily find a topic to draw me in, but like probably everyone else here, there’s only one thing occupying my brain… we have 105 days until Election Day and it looks like our nominee, unless the Democratic Party snatches chaos out of the jaws of coalescing plans, will be Vice President Kamala Harris.
In lieu of a coherent diary topic, let me share with you a few of the things that have happened since last week, which in these times is about 5 years ago in 2012 years:
- K2 got his dormitory assignment — a good slot, in a double with his requested roommate, a fellow soccer team recruit he met at several ID camps last summer. He moves in 26 days from today.
- K1 reached the end of her auto lease and is now carless while some magic gathering of paperwork occurs and she can buy it back because she really loves the car.
- Mr. Brillig smoked pork and beef ribs on Saturday and they were outstanding.
- Casa Brillig dodged a certain covid exposure. Last week I was supposed to pick up friends of mine at the airport during a long layover as they returned from a multiweek European cruise/tour. They missed their connection in London by minutes due to flight delays and were rerouted home the next day via another city, so no visit. On Friday morning my friend let me know her spouse had tested positive… and that he’d had symptoms for four or five days. He most certainly would have been contagious in my car, so the Universe was looking out for us. Bonus, the guest room I frantically cleaned and dusted is still clean and dusted :)
- I started working with a trainer to help our dog Simba with some behavior issues that wouldn’t be major for a smaller dog but is with a 100lb ball of cuddly fur. It was awesome and I/we have homework to do before Thursday!!
