Hi, all!
I was at a political conference this week, and someone said to me, “You’re beaming. What is it? You get a tan? New love interest?”
And I was like, “This is what it looks like when I joy-scroll instead of doomscroll!”
Someone else said to me, “I can’t remember the last time I felt this way.”
And I was like, “I can—it was 2008!”
Hard to believe it hasn’t even been a week since President Joe Biden announced that he would end his reelection bid, and Vice President Kamala Harris took the baton. And I know you are all experiencing just as much joy because check out the past week at Daily Kos, by the numbers:
-
We’ve raised $587,000 and counting for Harris.
-
You donated $168,102.48 to Daily Kos, which matters more than you can imagine. My priority is to dramatically improve the visitor experience at Daily Kos, and I’ll have some exciting news on that front in the weeks ahead. (You know, if the news cycle gives us a moment to breathe!)
-
12,110 of you stepped up on our behalf, with 1,696 (or 14%) becoming first-time donors! Of those, 265 are new recurring donors, each committing to an average $8.30 per month. Consistent support is crucial for our long-term stability.
-
Traffic went from around 800,000 page views and around 180,000 unique visitors per day in the summer and Biden doldrums, to around 1.2 million page views and over 200,000 unique visitors per day since Sunday’s election game-changer.
-
After Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris, our community published 250 stories—compared with an average of 80-100 stories a day. This high level of participation demonstrates the enthusiasm and engagement of our readers.
-
Before the June 27 debate, you all averaged around 80 community stories per day. From June 28 to July 20, that went up to 153 per day. And after Biden dropped out? A whopping 191 per day!
-
How about comments? Before the June 27 debate, we were at around 5,000 per day. Between June 28 and July 20, the average was around 8,100. And after Biden dropped out, y’all became extra chatty: 11,200 per day!
As always, my deepest love and gratitude goes to you and everything you’re doing for our country. I know we were all going to turn out and fight for Biden, and I will be convinced to the end of my days that Biden would have pulled it off.
But we’re in a much better place now—and we’re having fun again.
And thank you for being part of this amazing community and helping support it.
Love you all.
Let’s keep this joy going. Donate to help send Kamala Harris to the White House!
