I hate politics. Like REALLY hate politics, Like, "lock me in bed for several days, weeks even" hate politics. I'm a mentally and physically disabled teen (who can barely understand what any of these political words even mean) and my mind can blow things out of proportion at the drop of a hat, my usual (and still most efficient) coping skill is actively searching for good news, and the amount of reassurance and hope this website has given me is immeasurable, my weeks of misery have gotten easier. So while I'm not one for actually partaking in news, (nor am I old enough to actually affect most things) I can thank you! So I will!
Thank you, Daily KOS, for making my life a much easier thing to live! I feel safer in my country more than ever, and can focus on the better things in life, like my art career, or my adorable 5 month old kitten. I already avoid the news like a plague, and even here I focus on the happier stuff, but even the morale boost the writers have given me is amazing, and it's even better to know that I'm not alone, because it's the easiest thing I forget, that fine folks like you all are willing to fight for me! And while I don't have anything major to weigh in on the topic of the 2024 election, I did have this fun metric.
I recently (as in just got home sunday) went on a week long vacation to Savannah, Georgia, beautiful town by the way. I went there by driving, it's 14 hours total but we split it up into two days, through my entire trip, counting the 2 days of travel there, 5 staying in Savannah, and 2 back, I saw ~9 things total supporting Trump in some form. Which on the surface sounds scary, around two of these were dated signs from his 2020 campaign, and this was from 9 days of travel! Through the entirety of multiple states, and even better, for every Trump thing I saw, I saw about 3 rainbow flags or something of the like, and this wasn't even counting the several shortcuts we took, stuck in traffic, traveling through states, stops at convenient stores. And these were just signs and flags, sure your tourist shops had your merch supporting the bigot but I highly doubt some of these actually do, and even then it didn't seem like they were being bought in the first place.
From an Anonymous Teen, Thank you Daily KOS! And keep up the good work! Fight the good fight!
(P.S, not sure how to tag things here, I just more wanted to leave a note behind, because nice comments are nice! I most certainly wont post much here, probably going to forget this accounts passwords on purpose, but I will stick around for any nice comments! )
