Hello all! I've been lurking hereabouts for over a decade now, and while I have often thought of posting something, I have not actually felt compelled to do so until today.
Although I agree wholeheartedly that The Orange Man's display before the NABJ was truly abhorrent and indicative of the myriad human failings he so proudly flouts - I must full-throatedly echo some of the commenters who are warning us not to fall into the same old trap.
The amazing and historic outpouring of positivity for Kamala Harris has dominated the news cycle for over a week and was no doubt confounding the GOP and infuriating TFG. They had no new ideas for how to respond, so they fell back on their old playbook.
Let's trigger the Libs!
So TFG goes into a place he normally would't, and spews things he truly shouldn't and - POOF! He grabs the headlines again.
Our reaction is unfortunately predictable - justifiable outrage and criticism of his politically and socially deviant behavior. All over the mediasphere. And I know he's loving it. In his mind, and his own words, he "crushed" it.
Believe me, I share your outrage, but I think it's time for us to stop responding in the same old ways.
The Harris campaign is trying to focus on looking ahead with joy and optimism. In that light, TFG is just a sad relic, and old 8- track player stuck in a loop.
So, how should we respond?
TFG has stated publicly that he hates when people laugh at him, so I humbly suggest that is EXACTLY what we should keep on doing.
Follow our fabulous candidate's example: whenever TFG does anything outrageous to grab the spotlight, our public response should be to metaphorically shake our collective head and LAUGH at the weird antics of a desperate charlatan. Then tout the positive future for which we are all fighting.
I believe this will drive him to even more desperate and politically destructive action.
Let's stop giving the GOP any more oxygen, and use it to fuel our own fire!
Thoughts?

UPDATE:
Wow!
I didn't expect my first post to have legs like this. Based on the responses I have received, I guess I managed to put onto the page what many of us have been thinking. Thanks so much for the encouraging words, and let's keep on fighting the good fight!
Cheers!
