This map update shows that Ukraine has continued to push forward toward the town of Giri, which is 20 km southeast of Sudzha. Ukraine lost several BTR-4Es there.
Why go to Giri, you might ask? I’ve seen some folks speculating that this is some kind of drive to cut Belgorod off from
Rybar is a Russian source.
Ukraine’s military says it controls 74 settlements in Kursk.
I’m sure the residents being evacuated from one war zone will love being relocated in a different war zone in a completely different country.
This is intense combat footage of Ukrainian special forces ambushing a Russian truck loaded with soldiers.
WARNING: Toward the end the video shows dead Russians.
No one deserves a visit from Dr. HIMARS more than the Kadryovites.
Tetkino is a town in Kursk Oblast right on the border west of the current area of fighting.
This Russian is explaining that his unit captured several Ukrainians, but then realized that they were themselves surrounded by Ukrainians, so they released their captives and surrendered themselves.
This piece offers an explanation of Ukraine’s goals in Kursk by comparing it to a “wildschweinjagd,” a special hunt to kill marauding wild pigs that come in from the countryside. In other words, Ukraine’s objective is to blow up as much Russian stuff as possible.
Don't ask me why, but several times a year we experience real "invasions" by wild boars. They cross the border in large "families"... and local hunters are given official permission to hold "additional hunting seasons". And they shoot them in large numbers.
Here it is called "Wildschweinjagd". I'm not sure if "boar hunting" gives the right idea of what kind of "event" the Wildschweinjagd is. Because not only do hunters have to use "really big, really loud rifles", but then they proudly boast about their haul when they return home early the next morning, often in SUVs loaded with 2-3-4 boars weighing 100+ kilograms each…
Well, think about it: is it any wonder that Putin's supporters in the West were able to convince everyone that Ukraine is "bleeding to death," has no troops or resources left, and is playing all-in by launching an offensive against Russia? And what a surprise when Putin's propagandists easily manage to convince even the most serious Western "experts" that they have "stopped" this offensive…
And is it surprising if the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actually conducting a real "Wildschweinjagd" in Kursk, which means that the real goals of this operation are "relatively simple"? In fact, so simple that people seem to ignore this option.Sometimes in war there are situations when specific operations are conducted not to seize territory or for any other reason, but "simply" to destroy as much enemy manpower and equipment as possible. Which, hand on heart, is the true goal of every war: indeed, it is the core of why wars are fought. Especially in wars of this magnitude. It's just that "we" haven't fought a war this big in over 70 years. And so "we" have forgotten about such requirements.
This ex-Russian officer explains how Ukraine was able to invade Kursk Oblast so successfully.
2/ The former officer comments that the Russian Volunteer Corps and Freedom of Russia Legion began mounting raids into the Kursk region in March 2024. This was done to observe "how quickly they respond to your arrival, how many forces are there, where, what, how."
3/ While the Ukrainians were gathering intelligence on the ground, the officer says, the Russians didn't react: "what changed on our side [on the border] in six months? Fucking nothing."
4/ And when all these raids on the Kursk direction started, the border guards only had light firearms, no heavy equipment, and the border was practically always open. But nothing changed in six months.
5/ Authorities allocated money to strengthen the border: ‘dragon’s teeth,’ trenches were supposedly dug — but mostly, the money, as usual, was fucked up [i.e. stolen]."
6/ Those on the border knew something was up, he says, but were brushed off by the general command. "As usual, all requests up the chain were met with: ‘We have everything under control; intelligence reports that nothing has been noticed.’"
7/ When the Ukrainians began their offensive, "they arrived in groups and just started pushing forward without securing positions. Just further and further — one swift push."
8/ "Because if they were to secure positions, it would give us more time and opportunities to bring in troops to stop them. So they just push forward as fast as possible, while ours are talking shit, arguing, showing up, and filming reports.
9/ "As they say in the army: ‘If you want to defeat Russia, declare war, and it will fuck itself up with inspections.’"
Reminds me of my favorite Monkees tune.
"We were told there would be a train at 5 o'clock. A lot of people gathered. We arrived at the train station - there was no train. It had left. We've all been abandoned! Our head is a scoundrel, a real scoundrel! We don't know where she went. She's an idiot."

It says a lot about a country that it still finds the time and resources to help others even during war.
