Go After Him
What’s going on?
I am watching the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and will try to post a few more editorial cartoons in the comments section.
If you scroll down a bit, you’ll find out why it’s difficult to quickly identify recent cartoons that go online tonight. Normally, I add them on throughout the evening after my diary is posted.
Is it censorship?
Thanks for supporting this diary series.

Is Elon Musk Censoring Political Cartoons on X?
For the past almost one week, this message has been displayed in Editorial and Political Cartoons. At the top of the page on ‘X,’ it says this.
A political cartoon is made for the purpose of conveying editorial commentary on politics, politicians & current events. freedom of speech & of the press.
For years, this page has given one a pretty good idea of what’s on the minds of the nation’s editorial cartoonists. On a typical day, as many as 20 cartoons are uploaded on this page. While not all editorial cartoons end up being posted on this popular site on ‘X,’ 70%-75% of American editorial cartoonists have their work posted there.
I rely on this site to compile my diaries but, I also have the individual cartoonists’ ‘X’ pages bookmarked. As a routine habit, I frequently check them at least twice during the week to ensure that I’m not missing any other gems that do not end up in Editorial and Political Cartoons. Some cartoonists — very few — post their work on Facebook.
Once in a while, DK members ask me why we still rely on ‘X’ to post diaries like this. It’s for a simple reason: 95+% of editorial cartoonists post their work on ‘X’ as I detailed in this comment last year. When most of them move to another platform, then we’ll have a viable alternative.
As to Musk’s motivations for not allowing political cartoons on X — if indeed that’s what’s going on — I can only speculate that because the overwhelming majority of editorial cartoonists are not sympathetic to Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and its policies, he might want to limit the damage done. Regardless, it reeks of censorship from a guy who professes to be a champion of free speech.
Just yesterday, Trump said that if elected in 2024, he would offer a cabinet-level job to Musk.
