This puts Trump’s long history of racism and his recent shameless attacks on Kamala Harris in their proper light:
A bombshell report from the Guardian outlines the coordination between Steve Bannon’s War Room and Terrogram, a collective designated by the UK as a terrorist neonazi group that’s seeking to indoctrinate and radicalize conservatives to embrace mass violence. The group has already been successful in inspiring several so called “lone wolf” terrorist attacks, a strategy for creating [im]plausible deniability by far right groups going back decades. According to an administrator at the War Room’s Telegram channel, Bannon is involved with their efforts to lure casual readers in by using mainstream sources and then seeding the chats with lures to neonazi propaganda and calls for committing mass casualty terrorist attacks in the name of MAGA and white supremacy.
Neo-Nazi terrorist group using Steve Bannon account to radicalize people
Exclusive: Group is covertly seeding violent propaganda on to mainstream social media channels, report finds… Rai reports that one of the administrators of the channel admits mainstream sources should “be used to win people over” and that Bannon was “involved” when asked by a follower in a group chat text message shared with the Guardian… one of the most infectious propagandist groups on the far right is poisoning mainstream vectors of rightwing politics, shows a continued blurring of the line between GOP talking points and violent extremism.
Charlie Kirk has also posted several times on the channel and has for a long time been using a similar strategy to target young people. As you’ll all remember, Kirk spoke at the 2016 Republican convention and has been working with the MAGA-verse and Trump’s team on various recruitment and projects ever since.
It’s also interesting to point to people like the CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, who has for some time been parroting the messaging of Terrogram, specifically their insistence that civil war and mass violence are now inevitable in Europe. It certainly seems likely that these online networks of neonazi collectives (we would call them terrorist cells if they were Islamic) have been effective in their indoctrination of a huge swath of Americans, even some of the most powerful people in our society - at least those who are pre-disposed to being lured in by neonazi beliefs that is.
Many of us have been warning about the dangers of fascism with respect to the MAGA movement for some time, but the truth is that we were almost certainly under-selling the reality of who the “brain trust” behind it really are. The same thing happened with the Tea Party, who counted a large proportion of white nationalist militia connected activists among their early recruits for candidacy and leadership roles. Through The Guardian’s report, it’s now clear that actual neonazi terrorists are the ones creating much of the MAGA content that’s being disseminated to Trump’s base (and to all of our children, brothers, sisters, husbands, etc.). And it’s being done by some of Trump’s closest allies. There’s no real way to sugar coat or soften the language here. In Terrogram, we’re talking about an actual Neonazi Terrorist group, capital N, capital T, working with Trump’s former Chief White House strategist and the man Trump used one of his last acts as president to pardon.
And so, while it may feel refreshing to bask in the positivity of the Harris/Walz campaign, and while that positivity may be a far more effective strategy to win over voters than the hardest truths, the reality is that what we’re facing is far far more dangerous than most have been led to believe. If anyone has ever wondered how what happened in Nazi Germany came to be in a country that had not long before embraced relative progressivism, look no further than the carefully planned use of new media to indoctrinate Germany’s citizens by Goebbels who, after his failed Jewish baker boycott, built up tolerance to his poison in the body politic over a decade - until not only did Nazis control a major political party, they also controlled the minds and the souls of a huge part of the culture they infected.
MAGA: Originally used by Ronald Reagan as a campaign slogan in his 1980 presidential campaign (Let's Make America Great Again), it has since been described as a loaded phrase. Multiple scholars, journalists, and commentators have called the slogan racist, regarding it as dog-whistle politics and coded language.
Did you know that the first MAGA hat was… white?
So yes, out and proud neonazi terrorists are effectively constructing the core principles for one of our two political parties. In our hearts, didn’t we already know the real roots of Trump’s MAGA’s mission in our country? This is officially what we’re up against. It evidently has been for some time now. We should all take some time to let that sink in if it hasn’t yet. If anyone is wondering how it happened there and if it could happen here, it’s time to own up to the fact that it already has. Actual terrorists are the ones educating the leaders and the voters that comprise 50% of our political system. Incidentally, this is the very thing that many if not most Americans castigate the Islamic world for, fairly or unfairly. All decent Americans must redouble our efforts to organize and get out the vote like not just our democracy but our very souls depend on it. If you doubt this, just ask a German what it’s like to live with the doubt in people’s eyes when they talk about how little their family knew about the dangers or how little they could do in the late 1930’s to stop what what was coming. Because given all that we’ve seen and all that we know, we’re going to have a lot fewer excuses than they had if the puppeteers behind MAGA are able to truly execute their plans for this world.
