The Times has just posted a headline entitled: Biden Promised Peace, but Will Leave His Successor a Nation Consumed by War — by Michael Crowley.
To suggest that the US at this point is consumed by war is absurd, if not bordering on libelous, especially when coming from what is supposed to be a neutral purveyor of truth. No US troops are fighting anywhere in the world. Biden’s efforts have resulted in the strengthening of an alliance which has to date held Russia at bay, indeed is likely to prove the ruin of the Russian regime.
Biden’s approach to Ukraine, together with the expansion of our presence with our Asian allies, has made it quite clear to China that any aggression again Taiwan is not a very good idea. And his administration’s approach to trade with China has worked to minimize China’s assistance to Russia in the Ukraine conflict.
And while the Gaza conflict is awful, Biden’s bear hug of Israel and posture with Iran has to date prevented a larger scale conflict,
And he managed to get US troops out of Afghanistan, something that should have been done years before it happened. The unfortunate legacy of that — the Taliban takeover — is something that rightly should be left at the feet of the Trump administration with their September 11 meet and greet at Camp David.
While Biden’s domestic achievements have been substantial, he will leave his successor with a far safer world than it was in 2021.
The Times is no longer a force for democracy, but seems to be increasingly the National Enquirer dressed up in the clothes of false legitimacy.
