For all of VP Kamala Harris this week, see below the fold.
Labor Day Monday (Sep 2), was a, typically, jam-packed day for VP Kamala Harris.
She began her day, meeting with President Joe Biden and the U.S. hostage deal negotiation deal hostage team, before travelling to Detroit and Pittsburgh.
After the meeting, VP Harris was off to Detroit, Michigan, and then to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to celebrate Labor Day with workers.
In Detroit, Michigan, speaking to a crowd at Northwestern High School, VP Kamala Harris reminded us of what Labor Unions mean to all of us.
And, she spoke to our future, including an opportunity economy.
Excerpts:
We fight for a future where all people receive dignity and respect and opportunity for — not just for some but for all.
So, this election is a fight for the promise of America — a promise of freedom, of opportunity, and justice not just for some but for all.
We fight for a future where no person has to go broke just because they got sick.
We fight for a future where every worker has the freedom to organize.
We fight for a future where every person has the opportunity not to just get by but to get ahead.
We fight for a future where every senior can retire with dignity.
VP Harris appears at 11:10 minutes.
From Detroit, VP Harris went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they both spoke at IBEW Local 5 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).
Excerpt from President Joe Biden’s Introduction of VP Kamala Harris:
If you care about the dignity of work, there’s only one person you have a rational choice with this time, and that’s Kamala Harris. (Cheers of Kamala, Kamala, Kamala in the background, throughout).
I know her. I trust her. Not a joke. I trust her. The first decision I made as nominee in 2020 was selecting her as my vice president. And, by the way, it was the single best decision I made as the president of the United States of America.
I’ve watched her when all the experts, foreign and domestic policy, would give us advice, then we’d sit alone in a room, and she has a backbone like a ramrod. And she has the moral compass of a saint. This woman knows what she’s doing.
Folks, I promise you, if you elect Kamala Harris as president, it will be the best decision you will ever have made.
Including this specifically as VP Harris was asked about the U.S. Steel decision while on the tarmac, later in the week, on her way back to Pittsburgh for debate prep.. Looks like the workers agree with VP Harris and President Biden.
