I grew up in a pretty blue North Carolina. One of our governors (Jim Hunt), was a major Democratic mover and shaker. (No need to litigate his influence right now.) We had multiple Democratic governors and U. S. Senators. The reasons for the GOP takeover are many, but the 2010 election helped the GOP take over the North Caroline General Assembly (NCGA). And since 2011, just like in many states the minority party has successfully maintained their control of the North Carolina government. Having Democratic governors has kept it from being worse than it could have been even though they gerrymandered the NCGA to have a veto-proof majority in both the NC Senate and the NC Senate.
Between TFG and the GOP’s atrocious candidate for governor, things are looking to be in our favor. Btw, our candidate for Lt. Governor is Rachel Hunt, the daughter of former Governor, Jim Hunt.
I live in an area that has been moved around some, so my new U. S. Congressional District is the 4th instead of the 9th. Valerie Foushee is the Congresswoman and incumbent candidate for the 4th. The 9th’s candidate is is Nigel William Bristow.
Many of you may have already met our candidate for governor since he has made several appearances on several nationally televised programs (see MSNBC). His name is Josh Stein. Josh’s current statewide office is that of NC Attorney General.
Josh’s replacement for AG, (may be a familiar face for some) is Jeff Jackson.
