Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Tuesday’s Morning Open Thread.
Editor’s Note: Morning Open Thread is looking for community members willing to take on hosting duties—whether it’s a day here and there or a regular weekly post: Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays are available. If you’re interested, just reach out to me or Officebss.
Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.
I’ve come to think of this post as one where you come for the music and stay for the conversation—so feel free to drop a note.

Morning everyone—I am almost back online. Phone is working consistently and I am being told that I should have internet at home sometime tomorrow afternoon; though, I’m not holding my breath on that one at all. We’re coming back fine from the storm, it just takes times. On top of that, we are inundated with work involving the recovery.
Cheers everyone. Given that we don’t have a permanent editor for Tuesdays, I figured we could use the slot as a refresher on some basics of our government, the election process, and our political history. So, for the next few weeks, I’m going to feature a few overall explanations and maybe a couple closer looks.
