For weeks on end, it was the talk of the beltway gasbags that "Kamala Harris has to do an interview to show she's ready to be President." In that six weeks, Donald Trump started posting fan fiction about Joe Biden parachuting into the Democratic Convention and taking his delegates back from Kamala Harris, reposting the posts of neo-nazis, and just generally being complete insane.
Trump has sat for no such interview in his two years as a candidate. The farces that were the CNN Trump Town Hall of 2023 and Trump's on going interview sessions with Dr. Phil don't count. Nor does Trump's bizarre call ins to Fox and Newsmax after Harris's Convention speech.
Yet there's been no media pressure for Trump to sit for an interview with Dana Bash or George Stephanopoulos or Lester Holt. Pressure that the media exerted on Joe Biden and Kamala Harris over the past few months.
Nobody seems to understand that having an objective interview that asks a person "why are you posting QAnon Nonsense," is a good idea if said conspiracy theorist is running for President and (if he wins) would have access to the nuclear codes.
Democrats are not dodging tough questions. But Donald Trump hasn't sat with a non-Fox/Dr. Phil friendly interviewer for the entirety of the campaign. Why is that acceptable but Harris not giving an interview a six week scandal? It sure seems to me like there's a massive double standard in the media.
