Recent headlines from People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch website provides a sampling of what’s going on in deep Christian nationalist religious right circles during the run-up to the November election: “MAGA Prophets Repeat Dangerous Trump Lies, Declare Him ‘Anointed by God’”; “Dominionist ‘Courage Tour’ Heads to Pennsylvania in Bid to Put Unleashed Trump in Power”; “Lance Wallnau Blames the Seduction of Witchcraft for Kamala Harris’ Success”; “E.W. Jackson Declares That God Will Not Allow Kamala Harris to Become President”; “Joel Webbon Says a Kamala Harris Presidency Is the Judgment of God for Our Sins.”
Right-Wing Watch reported that “Trump-supporting ‘prophets’ and ‘apostles’ are functioning as an unofficial arm of the Trump campaign, using their substantial media and social media platforms to repeat Trump’s lies about voter fraud, tell people that God has anointed Trump to be president, and declare that Trump’s opponents are evil and demonic” (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/maga-prophets-repeat-dangerous-trump-lies-declare-him-anointed-by-god/).
In the midst of dire predictions and name-calling, also comes some significant organizing efforts, including one called The Courage Tour, organized by Trump-promoting dominionists Lance Wallnau and Mario Murillo, and co-sponsored by the MAGA movement organization America First Policy Institute [AFPI]. The Courage Tour is a combination tent revival and political mobilization. It is heading for Pennsylvania – one stop “on its tour of 19 swing counties that could decide the outcome of the presidential election” (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/dominionist-courage-tour-heads-to-pennsylvania-in-bid-to-put-unleashed-trump-in-power/).
Right Wing Watch pointed out that “Scholar Matthew Taylor, who attended a Wisconsin stop, called the tour ‘the most targeted and tactical voter mobilization effort done by Christian nationalists ever,’ adding that ‘they’re doing it hand in glove in many ways with the Trump campaign and with the apparatus of the Trump campaign through an organization like AFPI.’”
Among the speakers at The Truth and Liberty Coalition’s annual conference at Wommack’s Charis Bible College in Colorado, was far-right pastor and perennial failed political candidate E.W. Jackson. Jackson boldly told the crowd that God would not allow Kamala Harris to become president. Self-proclaimed Christian nationalist and unabashed Trump cultist Lance Wallnau is posting videos in which he warned that Harris represents “the spirit of Jezebel” and declared that she is “the devil’s choice.” In a recent podcase, Texas Christian nationalst pastor Joel Webbon said “Kamala is the judgment because of all the wickedness that we’ve already accrued.”
“I’m also here to declare in the name of Jesus that we are not going to allow a bunch of Marxists and socialists and communists and a bunch of sexual perverts and a bunch of political power-grabbers [to] take our country and lead it in a direction that is not pleasing to Almighty God!” Jackson declared. “America is going to remain one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
“I’ve been praying this prayer,” Jackson continued. “‘Lord God, speak confusion into their ranks. Make it so they turn on each other, so they can’t get it straight, so they fumble over their every word, so they mess up their every strategy, so that things collapse in on them. Lord God, work your will on behalf of those who are seeking to represent you and cause those who are against you to fall flat on their faces.’ So, I don’t care how well Kamala Harris did in the debate. I’ve got news for her: She doesn’t have a strategy that can outsmart God! God is the one who is going to bring about the result that you and I are praying for. I believe that we’ve got victory that is coming on the first Tuesday in November, by the will of Almighty God.”
After Harris bested former President Donald trump at their debate, Wallnau blamed it on “witchcraft” When Wallnau appeared on the “FirePower” show, hosted by fellow Trump cultists Mario Murillo and Todd Coconato, he went balls to the wall, declaring: “What you’re seeing now is a real Jezebel. When you’ve got somebody operating in manipulation, intimidation and domination—especially when it’s in a female role trying to emasculate a man who is standing up for truth—you’re dealing with the Jezebel spirit. … So, with Kamala, you have a Jezebel spirit, a characteristic in the Bible that is the personification of intimidation, seduction, domination and manipulation.”
“She can look presidential,” he continued. “That’s the seduction of what I would say is witchcraft. That’s the manipulation of imagery that creates an impression contrary to the truth, but it seduces you into seeing it. So that spirit, that occult spirit, I believe is operating on her and through her.”
Webbon told his podcast audience that “We have been a wicked, rebellious, apostate nation for decades and decades and decades,” he continued. “Kamala is not the sin that will result in judgment; Kamala is the judgment that is the result for all of our past. The judgment is being ruled by women.”
