If knowledge is power, this is knowledge that people who want to defend and advance democracy need to have.
In case you missed it, there is a recording now available of the recent, ground breaking discussion of a profoundly anti-democratic movement: The New Apostolic Reformation and the Threat to Democracy.
The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a significant religious and political movement that is playing an outsized role in public life. It is playing a central role in politics in many parts of the country.
Media outlets are now publishing explosive stories about it. The New York Times featured a story about how Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has flown an NAR battle flag at his summer home. The New Republic published a disturbing story about “The Violent Implications of the “Jezebel” attacks on Kamala Harris.” The Atlantic magazine demonstrated that the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court is deeply involved in this movement. The Texas Observer profiled three nationally significant Texas-based Apostles. Salon calls the movement “the cutting edge of the Christian Right.” The Southern Poverty Law Center says Dominionism is trying to rule.

Those who want to get futher up to speed on the NAR should check out these resources. “American Evangelicals for Trump: Dominion, Spiritual Warfare, and the End Times” a book by André Gagné that is at once a primer and a concise and authoritative reference; Meet The New Apostolic Reformation: The Cutting Edge of the Christian Right by Paul Rosenberg; A Reporter's Guide to the New Apostolic Reformation by Frederick Clarkson and André Gagné; the story of NAR involvement in the insurrection of January 6th, by Matthew D. Taylor and Bradley Onishi.
My own most recent
reporting on NAR is about their 19 county in nine swing strategy going into the November elections. It may not seem like it, but there is always time for learning important new things.
UPDATE: The CBS Evening News aired part 1 of a two parter on NAR’s Courage Tour, a key element in the 19 county strategy.
