Dyed-in-the-wool MAGAs think every word Trump utters is Gospel. Most Republican politicians believe he is both unhinged and dangerous. But they go along with the existential insanity because they are principle-free, yellow-livered cowards who cling to power no matter how much orange ass they have to lick.
But back in the day, before these spineless cynics lost their shame and kowtowed to the cult, many of them were ready to describe the true Trump. And went on the record. For most, it was the last time they spoke with any honesty.
A new ad from George Conway’s Anti-Psychopath PAC features their last moments of decency — “crazy," "flawed," "not fit to be president," "erratic," "a narcissist," "literally insane” — as voices in Trump’s head.
Here is the video:
Sadly, I only respect one of these voices — Adam Kinzinger. The rest have said they will either vote for Trump. Or (as far as I know) have not made it clear they will vote for Harris. The only option that would actually derail the deranged wannabe dictator.
The spot is meant to paint Trump as a man recognized by his teammates as a threat to the Republic. But the message I get is that the GOP and most conservatives are all talk and no action. They are pretend patriots motivated by what is best for them — the country be damned. Their lapel flag pins and crucifixes are cynical symbols worn to distract from the hollowness of their patriotism and Christianity.
The subject of the ad may feel a passing irritation. He may momentarily give a damn what people think about him. But Trump’s damaged mind soon creates an alternate reality in which his critics never said what they said. A reality his one-time antagonists enable by crawling on their bellies to kiss his feet.
However, their perfidy is on record. And if the ad convinces a few independents to vote for Kamala, then mission at least partially accomplished.
