It was announced today that Trump’s party for the J6 rioters has been postponed – at the very least.
Donald Trump’s fluffers in MAGA world previously announced that there would be a “celebration” at his Bedminster resort September 5 to honor the noble patriots who are incarcerated for their actions on January 6, 2021. Instead of the normal quiet reaction, the response was negative, loud, and from both progressive and Republic* (sic) Party talking heads.
Olivia Troye, who was an advisor to former V.P. Mike Pence had this to say when the gala was first announced:
------------------------------------------—
“Celebrating the people who endangered the life of (Trump’s) own Vice President [and] glorifying violence is a dangerous assault on our democracy [and] a disgraceful rewriting of history,” Troye, who endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, wrote on X.
“We must all stand together against him.”
-----------------------------------------------—
Golfweek (an affiliate of USA Today) has an article today detailing the postponement:
Golf event at Bedminster to benefit Jan. 6 Capitol rioters postponed (usatoday.com)
-----------------------------------------------—
The event that was going to honor the Capitol riot defendants was scheduled
to take place Sept. 5 before the event’s website announced the postponement.
A future date, time and location for the event have not been announced.
-----------------------------------------------—
The speakers and guests of dishonor were stated to be Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani and a smattering of B-List MAGA celebrities. In addition to including no details regarding a future date for the “celebration”, there was also no information relating to the reason for the cancellation postponement.
Since “Hold On, I’M Coming” can no longer be played at Trump events, it is a fair guess that the playlist would have been comprised of the J6 Choir, Lee Greenwood, Ted Nugent and Kid Rock.
The article did include details regarding pricing – which were eye-popping:
-----------------------------------------------—
General admission tickets were going for $1,500 and a single VIP ticket for $2,500, said the invitation on the fundraiser site. Bundle tickets for a table of 12 were available for $30,000 and $50,000.
-----------------------------------------------—
However, the Golfweek article also doesn’t mention how those who purchased tickets or tables for the gala could obtain refunds – which leads to me speculating that the rubes were not lining up to pay through the nose for the privilege of eating bad food in the presence of iDJT. Mar-A-Lago has that market cornered.
Was this grifty event a failure to launch for Donnie? Perhaps the sycophants are realizing that, much like his media stock lately, Trump is declining sharply and not worth investing time…or money.
*I refuse to call them the “Republican Party” until members of the Republic Party begin calling the Democratic party by the correct name.
