I figured it would be a handy thing to have a Daily Kos Group for the Nation’s Capital as we head into this final stretch of the election season (and, likely the MAGA bullshit afterwards). So... uh... Tada, I guess. Now there is a local Daily Kos community group focused on the DC Metro area. First off, a quick note to folks not from the area:
DMV ≠ Department of Motor Vehicles
DMV = District (of Columbia), Maryland, Virginia
495 aka “The Beltway”
But not all of Virginia. And not all of Maryland. A bit like how the DelMarVa ain’t all of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Except that the DMV is all of the Disctrict, so I suppose it’s not really that very much at all. Another thing it is not like is “The Tri-State Area” because everyone in any tri-state area gets things like representation in Congress and local control over its National Guard. Loosely, it is the part of the DC Metro Area that is inside the beltway.
So, if you are inside the beltway and would like to keep tabs on or share stories about the District, please join.
Or, if you are far from the area, but just want to keep tabs on what’s happening here, keep on eye on us. I will try republish to this group any diaries that come across that are DC-centric (but not just federal government focused).
