When Trump talks about his deportation scheme getting bloody, believe it. His fans want it, they will demand it, and if he gets back in office he will give it to them. The Trump campaign hates immigrants so much, they’re amplifying an incredibly insidious and dangerous lie. Let’s see if this gets any coverage by the big media outlets. Mediaite has it:
The Trump campaign pushed unfounded online rumors in a mailer sent out Monday that Haitian migrants in Ohio were eating pets, using the story as a political attack line to accuse Vice President Kamala Harris of failing on immigration policies, citing tweets as evidence.
The email claims, among other alleged crimes, that Haitian immigrants have “reportedly been caught ‘decapitating ducks’ and hunting geese and other livestock in public parks — and even kidnapping residents’ pets — then eating them.”
The campaign email came on Monday soon after former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH), also amplified the claims when he shared a clip of himself discussing “the issue of Haitian illegal immigrants,” whom he accused of “draining social services and generally causing chaos in Springfield, Ohio.”
And of course the gruesome JD Vance even uses Elmo’s Nazi site to promote it:
Some local reporters did some actual reporting, just because they obviously don’t know that’s not how to get ahead in the current big media landscape:
The Springfield Police Division said Monday morning they have received no reports related to pets being stolen and eaten.
A social media post originally from a Springfield Facebook group went viral nationally in recent days. The original poster did not cite first-hand knowledge of an incident. Instead they claimed that their neighbor’s daughter’s friend had lost her cat and found it hanging from a branch at a Haitian neighbor’s home being carved up to be eaten….
Springfield Police said they were aware of the social media post but that this was “not something that’s on our radar right now.”
Which should shock no one with functioning grey matter. Which says everything about the people who sent the post viral on social media, and even more about the Trump campaign and JD Vance.
