Well, we’re bracing for the winter storm the has been moving across the country. Here in central North Carolina we don’t usually see as much snow as the western part of the state which includes the mountains and the foothills (known as the Piedmont region. The ranges for precipitation are for icy roads to 1”-3". Now for those who get six or more inches on a regular basis, you may chuckle at the idea of dealing with just 3 inches, but when an area’s annual allowance for inclement weather is maybe four inches for the year… Well, let’s just say, everyone should just stay home. But they won’t.
There’s always the combination of locals who want the challenge of driving on icy and snow covered roads combined with transplants being cocky about their own ability to drive in the conditions. We’ll be hearing about numerous accidents. Most of the schools and businesses will be closing ahead of when the forecast says we’re going to be hit.
But hey, at least we’re not being evacuated from our homes due to a wildfire. Perspective. Our concerns while genuine, pal in comparison to what the citizens of the Los Angeles metropolitan area are dealing with.
No matter where you may be today, be careful. Take care of yourselves.
