Ben Stiller takes a lot of stick for just being meh in the plethora of comedy films he's starred in. But he really shines in this one (IMO), in large part due to the excellent writing and sight gags. Here's the blurb from the back cover of the DVD:

Still suffering from a high school crush on Mary (Cameron Diaz), the nerdy, angst-driven Ted (Ben Stiller) tracks her down thirteen years later with the help of a sleazy private investigator (Matt Dillon) who also falls for her. I was ROTFL just from watching the trailer below, as I hadn't seen the film for years and the trailer brought back all those fond, hysterical memories:
