This is the 21st story I've written about raising funds for the 27 Democratic candidates in the reddest districts in Virginia. At the time of the first story, on August 27, 2025, there was $500 in Charles Gaba's Virginia Value Pack 27 ActBlue Account. The account was created to provide each of the 27 Democratic candidates with a minimal amount of money to run a basic campaign in Virginia's reddest districts. In discussions about what amount would be sufficient, $5,000 was suggested; that’s a goal of $135,000 (27 X $5,000). There was skepticism we could reach that amount, but I said, let's just take one step at a time; first we’ll get to $27k, then $54k, and so on.

Now, after 20 of my stories, and several from the great DK trusted users ZenTrainer and the support of Brainwrap, we have raised over $133,000 — less than $2,000 from our goal -- a lot of it from you at Daily Kos.

But the stories are not only read by ‘Kossacks.’ They are circulated and find their way to other donors, including elected officials. That's one reason there has been a bump in contributions after each one of my stories. A recent contribution was made by a VA Democratic Congresswoman, (hint: there is only one).
