A gentle reminder of how we do things:
- Do not troll the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.
- Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.
- Pooties are cats; Woozles are dogs. Birds... are birds! Peeps are people.
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. If you’re having “issues” with another Kossack, keep it “out there.” This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.
- There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated. If we alert you to it, please remember that we do have phobic peeps who react strongly to them. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paw.
I’m going to try something a bit different this week.
I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite animal friends around the Internet. Foster families, zoos, poetry-writing cats, polar residents…. so many animals to enjoy!
Let’s start with one of my favorites: Cheddar. Well, his full username is @fartycheddarcat. He’s got two older cat sisters (one has tea parties he’s not allowed at, to keep the havoc at bay) and a younger brother.
Cheddar really is adorable, although he’ll tell you he’s a fierce zombie hunter. He started at X/Twitter but he’s now other places using the same name.
Love and Hisses ~ foster cats in a wonderful temporary home. At Facebook and her own blog.
TinyKittens, one of the pioneers of rescues being on-line. Shelly and her crew have done amazing work with ferals and fosters with the support of a worldwide community. Video: Grandpa Mason, an old feral who had to stay inside for health reasons. He never quite took to humans, but kittens? Yup. He was Grandpa Mason, teaching them to cat.
Next, we have Bradford Cat Watch Rescue. Based in Bradford, England, they do amazing work with limited resources for abandoned and injured kittens/cats, getting them healthy then adopted. I had to be careful which post I shared, as they get some badly injured wee beasties, but they’ve really helped this little one.
Wasabi Sushi Matcha has three cats of her own and adorable foster kittens. Her newest foster, wee Creamsicle.
With income from donations and her pet care products, The Girl with the Dogs is able to groom pets who need some TLC for free. Here, she tackles an Alaskan Malamute.
Katie van Slyke runs a farm, with standard cows and horses ~ and mini cows and horses. [Note: she’s a farmer ~ she can get fairly blunt about biological processes and shows births]. Also cats, mini goats, and summer flowers.
The Cornell Lab Bird Cams have lots of fun feeds. As a sample, a hummingbird feeder in Panama.
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge has big cats: lions, tigers ~ and bears, too. When Big Cat Rescue in Florida closed, Turpentine Creek took their cats. Kaia, a fishing cat:
The Big Cat Sanctuary in England has rescued some lions from Ukraine:
Bondi Vet and Rescue Vet get all sorts of patients.
Bondi Vet gets a lion cub, echidna, raccoon ~ never a dull day.
Rescue Vet has helped with rescuing birds in Ukraine:
Some I’m just going to link to, for those who might be interested.
The Hoof GP: he tends to milk cows’s feet on farms in Scotland. Can be a little gross at times but surprisingly fascinating. Bonus views of Scottish countryside in some of the videos.
Sandi Brock/Sheepishly Me: Ontario sheep farmer. Adorable sheep but with the messy reality of a farm.
Snake Discovery: snakes but also birds [the couple that run it have two pet birds], iguanas, bearded dragons, turtles, and a pet alligator. In addition to their store and mini zoo, they run a reptile rescue to rehome animals that need it.
There are so many more I could share ~ the Internet is full of adorable animals. Who are your favorites to visit on-line?
