I have chosen to preempt my cycling stories with events that are current, and important. Worry not, your questions about what became of those two cyclists in Vancouver shall be answered. All in good time.
2025 is certainly setting records for me. I have been to four protests and one town hall, and the year is not over with. The town hall was held last week, featuring my local state representative (a Democrat) whom I had never met before.
Protest #4 was the No Kings rally held on October 18. The location was a city park a few miles home, with plenty of parking available. I always associate Tattnall Square Park with Ultimate Frisbee, because I’ve played many games there.
That’s me throwing a disc in Tattnall Square Park, in the Before Times ten years ago.
Back to the present reality. The organizers of the rally instructed everyone to assemble in a grassy corner of the park. After the group had gathered, we were given instructions to march to a nearby street. We were to line the sidewalk, but were not to block the sidewalk or the street. We were told to be peaceful, and to ignore any MAGA types who might show up.
The first set of pictures is from the assembly area.
One frog was in attendance.
The nearest sign is in reference to the Georgia Tech football team.
My second most favorite sign.
Marchers make a dramatic entrance through the archway.
The remaining pictures are along the street. The entire crowd was friendly. The MAGA folks stayed away.
Getting into position. Frogs rule!
Batman answered the call.
I’ve told you which sign was my second favorite. Here is my award for Best of Show:
New Day Cafe is a daily community diary. We have a regular core group that shows up nearly every day, plus a few stragglers. Everyone is welcome; we’re always happy to have new folks show up. But please leave your attitude at the door. Personal attacks will be countered with scorn, and repeat violators will be flagged into oblivion.
Remember too: By group consensus, no pictures of Dear Leader are allowed here (making an exception for incidental pictures that show up in protest signs).
