My life right now is a nightmare. My grandpa, the man who raised me and is practically my father, is dying. But that is not even the worst part, by a long shot.
It was six months ago that they found his cancer. Only now is he starting treatment. Today he was told that he has stage four cancer, would have only had another 6 months left if he wasn’t about to start treatment, and the treatment will only prolong his life by like a few more years.
Think about that. It took SIX MONTHS for this to happen, and he would have had SIX MONTHS left, which means YOUR SYSTEM wasted HALF of the time he would have had left. And I know why. We all know exactly why.
Because the system is run by you, you uncompassionate unsympathetic greedy money hungry CEO’s who see numbers on the screen and not the MILLIONS of people that YOU have killed and are continuing to kill. You make more money, the longer it takes. The more you delay, the more the patient has to come in for more appointments and biopsies and bloodwork while waiting months, MONTHS, for life saving treatment, well, that’s just more money in your already-overflowing pockets. More numbers on your screens.
I’ve seen how the system works on the inside. I worked for eight months in a specialty clinic, one of the only two of its kind in my home state, so you can imagine the high number of patients we served. All of our patients were very sick, and many of them were dying of organ failure. For a patient base that was about half the entire state, we had one new patient coordinator. ONE. It took months for her to even get to a patient. A common thing patients would say when called to schedule their initial appointment was, “it’s lucky I haven’t died in the time it took you to call me.” And the poor new patient coordinator could not take a single day off without coming back to about sixty voicemails the next day. Meanwhile our CEO was constantly leaving early and taking vacations. We had I think about three or four schedulers, five or six nurses, three people in the billing office, and maybe ten doctors, and all of our patients were just slowly dying of organ failure while our CEO got rich billing for appointments and labs. The more their care was drawn out, the more money he made. The more he understaffed our office, leading to sometimes fatal wait times for our very sick patients, the less people he had to pay. It was all a very simple equation on his computer screen—you healthcare CEO’s never have to see the real lives they’re ruining, the people you’re killing in a very cruel and agonizing way. You keep people sick, keep them waiting, keep them coming back. You bill for appointments and bloodwork all the while making it take an extremely cruel and inhumanely long time so you can squeeze as much money out of your sick, suffering, dying patients as possible. You get rich, off of people dying, slowly, while being simultaneously buried in debt.
In short, YOU ARE EVIL. YOU DISGUST ME. AND I KNOW YOU DO NOT CARE. YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT A SINGLE ONE OF US. You only care about the numbers on the screen.
Well, I don’t think numbers are going to be of much help to you when you’re all burning in hell.
