Note: I use a ‘theme’ for my diaries, in an attempt to keep my writings on a cohesive path while I compose the diaries. It is also fun to see comments that fit within that theme. However, here in MOTland, all topics are welcome, it is an open thread. There are no demerits for being so-called ‘off-topic’. Thanks!

This diary selects songs whose main title word ends in ‘-ade’. This theme is quite narrow as strictly defined, so let’s open it to any song that can somehow relate to a song that ends in ‘-ade’.

Wikis: Charade Masquerade Serenade
=====================
"Charade" is a Parisian waltz with music by Henry Mancini and lyrics by Johnny Mercer performed in the 1963 film of the same name. It was nominated that year for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Stanley Donen composed the song for Charade. There is a scene in the movie where Audrey returns from a happy winter holiday to her Paris flat to find it stripped of everything of value. Bare floors and the walls are all that remain. Her loutish husband had absconded with all of her worldly goods.
She enters the dimly-lit apartment with her suitcase and surveys the scene. Her feelings are of sadness, loneliness and vulnerability. To me, it translated into a sad little Parisian waltz. With that image of Audrey in my mind, I went to the piano and within less than an hour 'Charade' was written. Johnny Mercer added his poetry, and the song was nominated for an Oscar that year"
