We told the world that dreams could come true
That anyone, could be anything, if they dared to dream
Picket fences, equality, wealth and fame
We even told our own we’d all make it through
We sold a lie so big it swallowed the truth
Left us with nothing but the emperor’s clothing
---
We told world, all were welcome in our land
We promised the world, freedom and justice
But those who responded to our invitation
We put them in cages and stole their children
We served them so much heartache
Poor old Cupid broke his bow and fell into depression
---
We told the world, freedom for all was the goal
We marched that tale across the globe
While we peddled chains and whips in the dark
We used laws, to bind freedom, silence equality
We tied lady liberty up so thoroughly
She stood still on her pedestal forever and a day
---
Today our picket fences are electrified wires
Today our neighbors are our worst enemies
Today our lies are exposed to our eyes
Today our leaders have no shame
Birthed in our lies and broken promises
They ride the crashing wave of our demise
