I ran across this at a candy store in a huge flea market complex the other day. It’s a tub of cotton candy colored to look like — well you know.
A close up of that classic profile.
I presume it was intended to be edible. I didn’t check to see if it could also be used as a hair piece. I also didn’t check to see if it is officially licensed merchandise. (It’s tacky enough to be plausible, though I doubt it.) I resisted the temptation to buy it.
I encountered this while exploring a massive flea market complex while on a trip to a family gathering. There were hundreds of vendors and crowds of people looking for bargains.
One of the things I do on such occasions is note MAGA-themed merchandise. I did find some other items, but not as much as I expected. A visit to a county fair elsewhere in early summer found quite a bit, mostly t-shirts and hats. I was thinking of doing a photo diary, but never got around to it.
Is this kind of stuff losing its popularity? I can’t be sure. Maybe there’s a certain amount of FAFO that’s curbing enthusiasm for this stuff.
I’m not going to say where this was. It was fun to look for bargains and stuff you won’t find elsewhere, but another observation had me thinking.
If ICE showed up, I’d expect most of the vendors and a lot of the crowd would be running for their lives. Now that looking “the wrong way” or speaking the wrong language is grounds for an arrest, the threat can’t be ignored. People living in the marginal economy are especially vulnerable. No point in giving ICE any tips.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
