No, just blinkers for the willing. Many of us wanted it to be true, but reality got in the way.
In a few short years, from 2018 to 2025, we have gone from a few coded Dog Whistles to outright SCOTUS-approved actions—ICE’s racial profiling, not a problem.
We have gone from a civil society to a military police state. So long as the government declares you a terrorist [@ home and abroad], no legal limits need apply. Indeed, even questioning the legality of government actions can get you branded as un-American.
When elected members and ex-service men and women state fundamental military law. You will be branded as traitors, and the President's calls for your summary execution do not result in his immediate impeachment, the rule of law has gone walkabout.
When a whole elected party, out of fear of their President, does everything in their power to protect pedophiles, we are one sick country.
When a party tries to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters by racially motivated redistricting, just where are we heading?
When the evident and apparent extreme corruption by the first family goes unchallenged, what the fuck.
We have a government that negotiates with authoritarian rulers to the detriment of our allies, a President that worships strongmen, where the fuck did that come from?
Who came up with the Christian whites-only asylum programme?
Gratuitous and vile attacks on journalists, especially if they are female, cause no walkout of journalists from the press conference. Seriously? Don’t give the jerk the megaphone.

State-sponsored killing, why have a trial, even if it breaks international law? Ordered by the President.
Giving the unitary executive near absolute immunity, what a damn sham. For a start, you get an unqualified and incompetent executive branch, so weak that they bend the knee at every meeting and allow it to be broadcast far and wide.
