This week, we’re helping a Los Angeles preschool teacher who hopes for materials to teach reading, and a North Carolina middle school teacher who needs hands-on science activities. We hope that readers who support quality public school education will help by sharing or supporting our featured projects.
The Inoculation Project is an ongoing, volunteer effort to crowdfund science, math, and literacy projects for public schools in low-income neighborhoods. As always, our conduit is DonorsChoose, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that facilitates tax-deductible donations to specific, vetted projects in public schools.
Great news: we have two new projects today!
Mrs. Linares teaches in Los Angeles, at a public preschool that is inclusive of special needs students. She needs materials to create interactive books and other learning materials tailored to her class’s needs.
PROJECT #1
Resources: Help me give my students the essential supplies they need for everyday learning.
Economic need: An Equity Focus School; nearly all students from low‑income households.
Location: Florence Griffith-Joyner Elementary School, Los Angeles, California
Total: $171.18
Still Needed: $171.18 Completed, thank you! Please consider project #2 below.
Project description by Mrs. Linares: We are a Preschool for All Learners (PALs) classroom setting. This setting helps support students with special needs. My program helps students learn to communicate (verbally or through a communication system), self-help skills, social-emotional skills, physical development, and foster independence.
This project will help provide shipping labels, lamination sheets and card stock.
The shipping labels will be used to create stickers and interactive song boards. The lamination sheets and card stock will be used to create interactive books that are sturdy. My students enjoy learning with fun visuals and interactive books. These materials will help me in creating these resources and tools for my students.
Donations of ANY size can make a BIG difference!
A woman made this beautiful interactive book for her niece over the course of a year. It’s obviously more elaborate than what Mrs. Linares will be able to make for her class with more limited time and materials, but it does illustrate the concept while being just a treat to look at.
Ms. Oxendine teaches middle school in a small North Carolina town very near the South Carolina border. She needs an array of supplies to bring hands-on science to her class.
PROJECT #2
Resources: Help me give my students the resources needed to spark curiosity for the next generation of thinkers and leaders.
Economic need: An Equity Focus School; nearly all students from low‑income households.
Location: Prospect Elementary School, Maxton, North Carolina
Total: $343.95
Still Needed: $343.95 $254.54
Project description by Ms. Amber Oxendine: My students are eager to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), but they need the right tools and resources to bring these subjects to life. With hands-on materials, they can physically build problem-solving skills, and think more creatively. Hands-on projects will allow my students to see how STEM connects the the real world.
Together, we can spark curiosity, inspire innovation, and open doors for the next generation of thinkers and leaders.
Your support will help provide engaging resources like lab materials, circuit tools, and other supplies that make learning learning exciting and meaningful.
Donations of ANY size can make a BIG difference!
This video shows the specific Snap Circuits set in this request. The scope of it is rather impressive!
Both our projects from last week were completed! Thank you — our readers are awesome!
Project #1, Science Gets My Students Engaged!: Mrs. B. teaches first grade in Arlington, Texas, and she needed some materials to allow her students to investigate aspects of weather and how plants grow.
She writes: I am so thankful that this project was funded for my students. Science is so much better when you have enough materials for all of your students. 1st graders are excited about learning and I'm looking forward to implementing our lessons learning about weather and wind and also our soil investigations!
Thank you so much for supporting my students.
Project #2, 6th Grade Science Classroom Wish List: Ms. Guardipee is a never-before-funded sixth grade teacher in a small Montana community that is the seat of tribal government of the Blackfeet Nation. She needed some equipment for hands-on science experiments.
She writes: I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. My students are going to be so excited to hear their project got fully funded. Because of people like you my students and continue to learn to love science. Thank you so much, my students thank you as well.
DonorsChoose has developed the designation Equity Focus Schools to describe some schools that submit projects. They meet ANY of these criteria:
❧ At least 50% of students are Black, Latino, Native American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or multiracial
❧ At least 50% of students qualify for free or reduced price lunch
❧ Rural schools where more than one third (34+%) of the students are eligible for free and reduced priced lunch

Founded in 2009, The Inoculation Project seeks to fund science, math, and literacy projects in public school classrooms and libraries. Our conduit is DonorsChoose, a crowdfunding charity founded in 2000 and highly rated by both Charity Navigator and the Better Business Bureau.
Every Sunday, we focus on helping to fund projects in neighborhood public schools where the overwhelming majority of students come from low-income households. We welcome everyone who supports public school education — no money is required!
Finally, here’s our list of successfully funded projects — our series total is 1203! The success-list diary also contains links and additional information about DonorsChoose.
