The Big Bang Theory, what’s the attraction?

I’ve been watching this show for the first time, and I’m reaching the end, but only because like books I usually try to see a series through (unless gore) just to know how it ends and I like to know the why of things, like why is this one of the most popular shows of all time?. I don’t understand the lure of this “comedy”. And no I never watched it before. (edited to remove part that was over the top)

Every character on this show is a self-centered egomaniac with delusions of brains. They are petty, cruel, mean, bullies and jerks! The central theme seems to be how many ways one can sting one’s so-called friends. Goodness gracious, I’ve never seen such pettiness in a show before not even Glee a teenage show.

Did anyone actually like this show or did everyone just watch it? It’s like they took certain personas and stuffed them with every stereotype imaginable, then for good measure added quite a hefty dose of every form of bigotry imaginable, let’s not leave any opportunity to make a bigoted comment bereft of one.

This show takes nerds and geeks and portrays all of them as vindictive little bastards, how the fuck is this show popular? I can’t think of one character I would consider being friends with if they existed.

The “caring” attitude of this group is a superficial coating of performative phrases uttered after the arrows found their mark. And I know people are going to tell me that the offensiveness and the petty jokes and the racism and bigotry were “jokes” were to “point things out”, no sorry that’s not how a show does that.

This is insidious and vile. No wonder we end up with people who think blowing others out of the water is fine and dandy.
