Now, NBC News has this part wrong in their reporting on how Mike Johnson just fucked over Mike Lawler and the other GOP House members in swing districts. NBC says this guarantees that those ACA premium hikes will happen, but as one shithead in the House conference stated, the Senate Republicans already killed renewing the ACA subsidies! Johnson’s latest move has made Mike Lawler just a wee bit angry.
“I am pissed for the American people. This is absolute bulls---, and it’s absurd,” Lawler said Tuesday. “Everybody has a responsibility to serve their district, to serve their constituents. You know what’s funny? Three-quarters of people on Obamacare are in states Donald Trump won. So maybe, just maybe, everybody should look at this and say, how do we actually fix the health care system?”
He faulted the leaders of both parties on the issue.
“You have two leaders that are not serious about solving this problem,” Lawler said, adding that it would be “idiotic” to not hold a vote on the expiring subsidies.
You fucking POS Lawler. Democrats are not to blame for this trainwreck. Your party has all the power. Lawler just wants to hurt the ACA a little at a time before the midterms, but once they are over, he’s willing to kill it. Therefore, why should House Democrats go along with his apparent sabotage and “negotiate” — this means cut or dismember — the ACA?
But NBC reports that Johnson is willing to let those 12 House “centrists’” — phony fucking moderates who are just conservatives — twist in the wind. Johnson says that the other House members have “other priorities.” According to NBC, those other priorities include letting those ACA subsidies lapse.
In fact, it’s also reported that the rest of the GOP dickheads told Lawler and company to find $35 billion in savings for his precious ACA subsidies, if he wanted them so damn bad. NBC noted that Johnson and the rest of the conference are more than happy to waive “pay go” when it suits their needs, like tax cuts for the uber wealthy. It always works that way for the GOP.
What is little Mike Lawler and his cowardly cohort to do now? Jeffries reminded that dumbass he could sign onto the Democratic discharge petition. The one with 214 Democrats on it. The ACA premium hikes are still going to happen even if that discharge petition got through, but at least Lawler and his fellow “centrists” might have some political cover for the midterms.
But I’m betting that Johnson and the other troglodytes in the GOP House think that Lawler and his fellow cowards will buckle and vote for Johnson’s turd of a bill. The bill that has no ACA extension in it. The same bill that does NOTHING about health care next year. And it would be the safe bet for Johnson.
The House GOP will sink or swim altogether!
But if Lawler is really as angry as he claims, he and his ilk could easily torpedo Johnson’s nothing of a health care bill. There are no definitive reports that Johnson has the all the votes he needs to get his “Operation Save Our Asses!” bill through the House. Johnson has this bill set to go for political cover only. He’s hoping the lazy, corrupt, stupid legacy media will report the Republican narrative, “We did pass a health care bill in the House to help all Americans!’
Just don’t look at the fine print.
The only drama right now is if Lawler and company will cave again, or will they kill “Operation Save Our Asses!” bill and let all their fellow Republicans take a hit. Lawler did note that those Republicans sitting pretty in safer red districts have a lot more of their constituents on the ACA. The truly smart move is to help Jeffries and the Democrats with their discharge petition, but Lawler is not that smart.
Sadly, a lot of Americans are going to be hurt next year with regards to their health care. Most will see some premium increases at a time of high grocery and electric bills. It’s already a done deal thanks to Johnson and Lawler, and all those Republican senators.
