Old Moscow Mitch McConnell or The Grim Reaper is stuck watching his accumulated political power being washed away like a kid’s sand castle during a hurricane. How do I know this? There are multiple examples of McConnell’s dwindling political power. Besides having no other Republican Senators voting with him to oppose the grossly unqualified Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr., McConnell is getting “no love” for his “No” votes on that despicable duo. Next, McConnell already has one elected Republican in Kentucky who has publicly stated his interest in running in the Senate primary in 2026, Congressman Andy Barr, and it’s already started a political food fight among the fascists with one influential PAC saying, “NO WAY!” to Barr! Finally, the coup de grace, we have McConnell writing an op-ed for the Louisville Courier-Journal stating that Trump’s tariffs will hurt Kentucky with higher prices.
A former Senate majority leader forced to write an op-ed for a paper he has villifed for decades to get Trump’s attention. A man who doesn’t read newspapers and has absolute contempt for McConnell. And Trump has dementia and will not listen to anyone because he is always right.
First up, we have Sam Stein and Sarah Longwell debate whether McConnell’s legacy is “tragic/pathetic” or “ignominious.”
I’m with Longwell about it being “ignominy.” And neither really gives McConnell any love for these latest Senate votes. And he really doesn’t deserve any accolades because McConnell made Trump possible. All he really deserves is condemnation for all time.
And as I have stated before, the vultures have started to land to inspect McConnell’s barely breathing carcass.

Congressman Andy Barr of KY-6th says he will run for McConnell’s seat, IF he announces his retirement. Let me rephrase that for the non-jaded. Republicans will push and push and push until they have to wheel McConnell over a cliff. If Democrats can force out Biden for his age, Republicans will do the same to McConnell. One sure sign that McConnell can be pushed around is that he is no longer Senate majority leader, a post he sold his soul to the Devil for. Does anyone think that McConnell willingly gave up that position to Thune?
And Barr’s announcement brought out The Club For Growth Action with guns blazing.
A conservative political action committee with deep pockets is wading into Kentucky's 2026 U.S. Senate race with a new ad attacking U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, a Republican believed to be considering a run.
Club for Growth Action, a super PAC focusing on economic issues and limited government, has released a 60-second television ad condemning Barr over a number of issues, including voting to raise the debt ceiling multiple times during his 12 years in office and accusing him of pushing the agenda of "woke Wall Street banks.
The Club for Growth Action loves Senator Rand Paul and others like loser Daniel Cameron, the former State Attorney General. And one of it’s biggest donors is billionaire Jeff Yass who is a libertarian and wants to dismantle the government just like Elon Musk. By the way, the ad from Club For Growth Action is more “Let’s destroy Andy Barr!” than help McConnell.
Finally, we have McConnell writing an op-ed for the Louisville Courier-Journal about how Trump’s tariffs are bad for Kentucky.
Mitch McConnell: Kentuckians can't afford the high cost of Trump's tariffs
In Kentucky, local storeowners are already hearing about their suppliers’ prices going up. One estimate suggests President Trump’s tariffs could cost the average Kentuckian up to $1,200 each year.
Wow! McConnell almost sounds like a Democrat when it comes to tariffs! Just one little problem. Why is McConnell writing an op-ed for a newspaper he has campaigned against for decades? The state media like the Courier-Journal was the main reason that McConnell claimed he had to raise all that special interest money when campaigning. It was all to set the record straight you know!
And the other problem is this one: McConnell’s a Republican Senator who could just call the damn White House to tell Trump this himself. The fact McConnell has gone to the “liberal media” to air his views on Trump’s tariffs screams, “HE WON’T LISTEN TO ME! AND I CANNOT GET MY FELLOW REPUBLICANS TO GO ALONG WITH ME EITHER!!”
Ultimately, this is the part in a horror movie where the monster that the mad scientist created breaks free and kills said scientist. And it is never pretty either. But the monster first kills a lot of innocent people before finally being chased back to the lab from wence it was made to confront the mad scientist. Usually, both scientist and monster die together.
In real life, we get to see the decline of a Senate “master tactician” by the monster he helped foist on the rest of the nation. Tragically, the monster Trump will outlast one of his creators, so there will be little joy at seeing the continued humiliation of the once powerful Mitch McConnell. That’s because McConnell will eventually retire very comfortably back to Kentucky, while Trump will end up killing more Americans with his insanity (economic privation for millions, more pandemics, and who knows what else?).
Think the legacy media will notice that everything and everyone Trump touches dies? Nah!
