The Wall Street Journal just published an article watering down the impact of Trump’s EO actions, claiming that “President Trump’s attacks on diversity programs reflect his desire to put the culture wars at the center of his presidency.”
Culture wars are what political parties engage in as they jockey for power. Persecution is what governments do to citizens.
Trump is rewriting US government code that will likely have the effect of criminalizing trans Americans and their supporters. Some hospitals and health care systems are already obeying in advance and discontinuing care. Trump is eliminating trans healthcare from governmental plans, including from plans provided to the military and their families. In addition, his anti-“DEI” efforts target women and minority citizens.
All of this is happening under the guise of a nebulous whole-of-federal-government effort focused on the “eradication of gender ideology.”
This is no longer a culture war; this is a sitting government making steps that will lead to the persecution of a disfavored minority citizenry of their own country.
A culture war is competing political parties jockeying for power in legitimate halls of government. We no longer have that. Trump has essentially declared Congress null and void. Thomas’ Supreme Court gave him the power to do so.
The people targeted by Trump already know this is what is going on. The Democratic Party still think the old rules of government apply, so they went home for the weekend while Musk wreaks havoc in the US treasury.
The mainstream media and big business knew this about Trump when they worked to re-elect Trump. They *knew* Trump fancied himself as peers with brutal dictators like Putin and Orban. They *knew* that Trump attacked our allies and costed up with our enemies. Yet they still worked to re-elect Trump.
This is a four-alarm fire.
