I posted this graphic in 2020 because I was in shock that half the country was in the process of bending a knee to this fool. We are now in the 2nd term seeing what was obvious to most of us the first time around. I can remember in the mid 1990’s arguing with coworkers the merits or in my opinion the stupidity and racism of Rush Limbaugh and his ilk. We can’t say we weren’t warned. Truth no longer matters.
It’s time everyone read “It Can’t Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis 1935 and the far right playbook, Mein Kampf, Volumes 1 & 2 by Adolph Hitler 1925 and 1926 edited by Rudolph Hess because Hitler’s writing was so incoherent. He was in prison for his failed coup attempt in Nov. 1923 and high treason in 1924. Hell of a role model. Don’t get me started about censorship of books. Next step will be burning books.
My father, uncles and stepfather fought in World War II. I grew up hearing stories of tragedy and heroism. The preservation of our freedom at an ungodly cost for all involved. We were warned by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to beware the military industrial complex. Unfortunately, we the people didn’t listen.
As a result, in a very simplistic thought we have had Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and most recently we supported a war in Gaza that basically treated the Gazan people as chattel. Obviously, Hamas and Iran are culpable in that action but how many of those young Gazan boys and men will not forget or forgive. Almost forgot, we bombed Somalia in the last few days. With Trump’s contempt for soldiers and Gold Star families no telling what to expect.
I owe anyone who reads this an apology. I started this post to highlight that I was way ahead of the comedy curve in posting the orange idiot on Mount Rushmore. It was supposed to be funny not give a crazy congress woman an idea.
