The damage is being tallied up from Ukraine’s most recent drone/missile attack on Tuapse, a city on the Black Sea coast.
Shrapnel damaged the superstructure, bridge wing, and portholes of the bulk carrier "Mumtaz bey," which sails under the flag of Panama. The vessel was loading coal, with 25 thousand tons of cargo on board. There were no casualties.

If this had been a Russian armored vehicle, it might very well have been a contestant in the turret toss.
The drones are everywhere. The drones will find you.
Russian whose head is wrapped in bloody bandages boasts about how he is going to kick some Ukrainian ass.
The lone survivor of a Russian assault on a Ukrainian tree line.
“Everybody’s fucking gone.”
This Russian calmly relates how “we got so fucked up.” Their convoy was smashed by artillery, then a cluster shell landed and tore the clasp off his helmet “and tied it in a knot.” Oh, and he was hit in the leg with shrapnel.
Why do these Russians remind me of the Belarus special forces breaking bricks with their heads?
They ate a cat. 😡
Yes, they were starving. But — they ate a freakin’ cat.

Another 1,150 Russians either dead or temporarily occupying hospital beds until they are sent back to the front with crutches.
Russian losses are averaging nine tanks a day this year.
Russia has struggled to keep up with Ukraine in heavy-lift drones. This is their latest attempt to overcome that.
The photo with the Forbes article shows one of these DIY Vobla drones — 2x4s nailed together as a frame for four quadcopters.
Russian soldiers have found a novel way to get around their lack of heavy-lift drones: strapping four small drones to a frame to create a device known as “Vobla.” A wide variety of these unlikely contraptions have appeared in recent months, and they now carry supplies to the front. While inefficient, the improvised drones do provide much-needed capability. And they show how adaptable drone technology can be with a little imagination.
Ukraine has made wide use of heavy multicopters carrying thirty pounds or more, with four, six or eight rotor blades. Some 2,000 are now in use for logistics, night bombing and minelaying missions. These are the feared Baba Yagas, and Russia has struggled to come up with an equivalent; they have even pressed captured Baba Yagas into service.
“There are several Russian domestic heavy quadcopter/multirotor equivalents undergoing testing and evaluation, but nothing so far that can be mass produced in sufficient numbers, “ Samuel Bendett, an expert on Russian drones and adviser to both the CNA and CNAS thinktanks told me. “So Russian soldiers are cobbling together a substitute.”
This war just might be won by the side that produces the most drones for the least amount of money.

“Condemn” is probably too strong a description. It’s more like dripping in sarcasm at the idea that a war started to denazify Ukraine and restore the glory of the Soviet empire in the face of NATO aggression is now about a rare earth minerals deal with the hated West.
x
Apparently eager to compete with Zelensky in all areas, Putin has offered the U.S. “some ownership of rare earth minerals and other valuable metals in parts of Ukraine controlled by the Russian military.” The Z-blogosphere isn't happy.

😅🇺🇸🇺🇦 Trump is going to make a “bad” deal with Ukraine on minerals, — Politico
For example, the development of the Novopoltavske mine, which Ukraine claims as “one of the largest” mines of rare earth metals in the world, will require about $300 million in investment.
— MAKS 24 👀🇺🇦 (@maks23.bsky.social) February 27, 2025 at 6:54 AM
A separate UGS report characterizes this mine as “relatively difficult” due to the risks of flooding and landslides. Also, the two largest mines of rare earth elements - “Azovske” and “Mazurivske” - are located in the territories occupied by Russia.
The US President's expected deal could leave him with a pile of unprofitable mines that no American company would want to invest in, the publication writes.
Yes, but not necessarily for the better.

If they don’t want to live as part of Ukraine, no problem! They can move to nearby Russia.
