Renewable energy, EVs, and so on continue their inexorable marches forward, while our new maladministration tries to “explain” to people that Real MoneyTM is a Marxist plot. For example, the anti-DEI forces attempted to erase “equity” from all government Web sites, including the SEC and IRS, reported by Rachel Maddow with gales of laughter.
Trump has repealed Biden’s NON-EXISTENT EV mandate. The OMB tried to repeal the non-existent Green New Deal. They are pretending to the power to shut down Federal agencies by Executive Order, regardless of the fact that they were established by laws passed in Congress and signed by Presidents, while also pretending to be able to create the more-than-bogus “Department” of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and give it vast extra-legal powers, all without consulting Congress.
These moves are routinely failing in the courts, Just like Trump’s dozens of lawsuits claiming that he was elected President in 2020. (Which, if you believe him, means that he is an unconstitutional third term.)
Never mind. As I said, reality in the markets is moving on without regard to any of the performative insanity, and reality in the courts is resulting in numerous temporary injunctions followed by scheduling hearings at which actual facts will be required, not Conspiracy Theories masquerading as legal doctrines.

Monday was an exceptional day for renewable energy in Ireland, with wind energy equalling >80% of the island's electricity demand.
Here are some maps and charts to illustrate where it all came from; yes, early Monday morning Kerry wind farms were providing >1/8 of the island's electricity demand 👀

Some very thought-provoking comparisons by Aaron Smith in the Energy Institute blog today. Many different ways to look at the corn versus solar comparison (including corn AND solar). Counting GHGs, still looks to me like the panels win.
