Not that he WILL. Odds are stacked against us, for sure. But he COULD fail to fully destroy America and get impeached and convicted (or choke on cheeseburger for that matter).
Impeachment is impossible now. Even if we had a Dem House, we don’t have the votes for conviction. The thing is, things have gotten bad FAST. And if I’m operating under the assumption that every Republican in Congress is a chickenshit coward (and they are) sooner or later a bunch of them are going to realize that are in FAR more personal danger by allowing this to continue.
I called Senator Markey’s office and told his aide that if they are coming for all of us, Republican politicians are included. They are ALL a threat to Tr-mp simply for them having ANY power over him. And if Trump comes for us all I asked the aide for Markey to remind his Republicans colleagues that they will come for Susan Collins LONG before they come for ME.
And it’s not just Tr-mp’s crew that has the knives out for Republicans in Congress. They rubberstamp this shit to their own peril from MAGA citizens too.

I think most Democrats and liberals were looking at that the wrong way in 2024 (which killed us). We saw the idea of perhaps people turning against Tr-mp as being persuadable to vote for US. That’s not reality, and that’s not what I’m describing.
But the MAGA who love Tr-mp do NOT love him unconditionally. The one condition they have is “Hate the same people I hate, and hurt them BAD, but that doesn’t spill over to me. My pale melanin and penis protect me. That’s the only condition.”
And Tr-mp and Musk might even TRY to half-heartedly honor that, but if they do the things they plan to do, that will be impossible. My friend told me it’s possible MAGA won’t feel this pain because they’ll target only Blue States. They’ll close community centers in Massachusetts but leave the ones in Texas entirely alone.
But see, it doesn’t WORK like that. There are a SHIT-TON of toxic MAGA assholes in Massachusetts every bit as violent and psychotic as those in red states. (Remember that fact Red State Kossacks, the next time Blue State Kossacks hold their supposed electoral “righteousness” over your heads. Landslide Tr-mp loss in Massachusetts or not, my state has six times as many crazy asshole Tr-mp voters as Wyoming does, even if we have more sane people by far. Over 36% of my smug, elite, ivory coast, latter-sipping electorate voted for THAT monster. Peter Griffin from Family Guy once wondered about Bostonians about how a town with so many amazing colleges can produce nothing but dopes. Now Massholes aren’t ENTIRELY dopes. But ANY Blue State Dem claiming their own state’s moral purity is lying to either you or themselves. Red State Democrats are not the ONLY people due to have tough conversations with their neighbors.)
So yeah, let’s say Trusk decides to keep the most egregious damage to Blue States. A TON of MAGAs will still get hurt. And plenty of them have guns and are the types of people to settle scores. I have no doubt Tr-mp is protected well-enough by the Secret Service (although not as well as he should be, as even after two attempts on his life, he STILL refuses to follow their directions). But that level of violence and rage will spill over to the rubber-stampers these people WILL have easy access to. And once that happens, Tr-mp is gone. They’ll impeach and convict him themselves, just because they’re chickenshits, can get MOST of their wishlist with Vance without destroying America, and will finally realize they are safer with him GONE, not with trying to curry favor with him.
If Medicaid is cut and a disgruntled MAGA takes it out on on a well-known Republican politician, especially if they are a moderate, this shit gets shut down hard and fast.
Tr-mp would have been convicted in his second impeachment if even a SINGLE Republican politician had died during January 6. I don’t know how to react to that idea. There is very real conflict and regret over my personal wishes there. But I think it’s instructive over what might happen in the weeks ahead.
We have been talking about Hitler a lot, but the truth is Hitler had the easier lift. Germany was NOT filled with a population armed to the teeth with their own personal arsenal of weapons of mass destruction, or a fierce sense of individualism ingrained into them from early childhood. The fact that even KNOWING that, Tr-mp has STILL gotten this far, this fast, is still pretty damning of us all, even if he were to fail. Just saying.
Do you know the worst thing about this idea (aside from the fact that every inch of it is horrible)? Tr-mp blamed the recent plane crash on DEI. Are Republicans in office 100% sure he won’t blame unpopular policies on THEM and say “My hands were tied, they had the votes to cut Social Security”? Under this scenario, the disturbed MAGA in question doesn’t even have to question his own logical fallacies and blame Tr-mp as A logically following B. It’s them RINOs what done it!
This movement is toxic and violent and disgusting, and when they aren’t busy destroying us, they will be busy destroying each other. They piss the wrong people off, WE won’t be the actual danger to them.
Honestly, if you were to hide-rate the diary for distasteful subject matter, I’d get it. But not only are these horrible things I’m thinking not something I’m encouraging US to do, it almost certainly won’t come from us anyways. Remember the two would be-assassins of Donald Tr-mp last year were disaffected Republicans.
I don’t so much believe the fiction that Americans are rugged individualists anymore. But MANY Americans still do, and MAGA still does especially. This is taking things too far, too fast. If we were at this point today in four years, nothing could be done. We’d be doomed. 2 and a half weeks? The frog still jumps out of the pot. I’ve said it elsewhere and I’ll say it again, when fascists take charge they are usually cunning enough to break the will of the people before they do the country itself. Tr-mp broke America first. He did this in the exact wrong order. Four years from now we’d be sleepwalking through dread, and the rest of our jobless lives, and the third Tr-mp term, and when Musk overthrew the IT guys with teenagers we’d be like, “Whatever.” But this is still New to us. We still have the ability to be outraged. But I’m convinced more and more OUR outrage isn’t the dangerous thing. It’s the people who used to worship Tr-mp before they were forced to change Grandma’s diapers. Because as mad as we are, those disturbed individuals will be feeling is a strong sense of BETRAYAL. As as stupid as they are for not seeing it coming, it’s also a true and right emotion to THEM getting screwed too. He broke the ONLY unspoken promise they had of him.
I do not like thinking these thoughts. I did not enjoy telling that poor Markey Aide about the real danger Susan Collins is placing herself in just to “not rock the boat”. But this is our reality and we have to think about all the ways we ALL are in danger.
And you know what? I don’t want a SINGLE Republican in Congress or the Senate to die just because it serves Tr-mp’s purpose. There is no schadenfreude for me to be had about that. Because if something serves Tr-mp’s purpose, it’s bad. And if Republicans start understanding that Tr-mp really IS insane enough to either threaten them himself, or doing something so despicable his former followers will take out their frustrations on them, they ought to warned.
I will hear back, “They know. These assholes know their voters.” Do they though? Because impeaching Tr-mp NOW and sucking up to Vance is the literal safest option they have right now, and they magically think none of the shit that is gonna blow up will hit them. They are very wrong. And they ought to be warned. Especially by other Dems in Congress who actually DO take this threat seriously and understand how much danger we ALL are in.
I would very much love Tr-mp to be impeached and removed before the first Republican Congressperson / Senator is attacked (or worse). But if and when it happens, THAT’S when freaked out Republicans will get off their asses.
And lest you think I am a Pollyanna about this (my critics will rightly hold over my head that I was SO sure Kamala would win) I do have to point out that even if Tr-mp is removed, Musk jailed, and Vance is a greatly politically weakened President going forward, even if all that happens in our magical best case scenario, the damage is already done. It’s irreparable. And the irreparable damage didn’t occur during any of those executive orders (but no lie, putting the toothpaste back in the tube for SOME of this shit will take generations; Generations we as a planet do not have, due to climate change). No the damage occurred on Election Day in November 2024. Even if our institutions are able to (barely) hold on one final time, nobody will ever trust America again. I don’t trust us. We are a world pariah. If we have free elections in 2026 and 2028, and somehow win them both by landslides, it doesn’t matter to the rest of the world. We are always one botched election away from revealing undercover foreign operatives to Vladimir Putin if he slightly flatters the idiot sociopath we elect next time because of racism, while claiming it’s about egg prices (by the way, is that the stupidest excuse for voting for Tr-mp you’ve ever heard of or what? As far as dumb reasons to vote for him go, that one might take the cake. Hillary’s emails have just been dethroned there).

I predict whatever the outcome, whether the good guys beat this back before it spills over in World War III, or if it DOES get as bad as it could get for the rest of the world, when you ask somebody the first word that pops into their head about America, I’m betting it’s now “Tr-mp”. It is for me. And that fact haunts me because this specific tragedy was entirely preventable.
