The news is scandalous. Also somewhat humiliating. Maybe I don’t feel it as much as others do because I can afford to shovel money at assorted causes — including organizations that are filing lawsuits all over the country.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

Stress has always done a number on my blood pressure. Last week was pretty awful on a personal level and I just said to hell with it and cried and swore and generally did anything I wanted to to get how I felt out. I did warn the people I had to deal with on the phone that yes, I was angry — but not at them. They seemed to appreciate it.
This week, even with the news not being discernibly different, my blood pressure has been going down. The pulse rate is still up, but more exercise will take care of that.

We’re one more step along the way to getting my mother’s estate settled. I’m not sure what will happen next, but with any luck, it won’t cost us much.
I didn’t go anywhere on Friday. I went onto Amazon to see if there were any newly listed ebooks that looked interesting. Didn’t buy anything. I went onto Barnes & Noble and put a hardcopy book into my cart — I don’t buy new hardcopies from Amazon. I paid for it yesterday. Since I have a B&N membership, I get free shipping.
