It may be one of the worst and cruelest political moves of my lifetime and it will destroy the democratic party at the time that we need them most. There are diaries about how the democrats are going to stand up to the Trump/Musk CR. This is directly from a speech that Schumer (Chuck the Schmuck) gave. According to Josh Marshall, one of the journalists I trust most these days, this is nothing more than a head fake to try and fool democrats’ own voters. It is what Marshall calls Kabuki Cave. Go read the whole thing. It seems that Schumer cut a deal with Thune which will go down as one of the worst political sell outs in history. The democrats will give up the sixty vote threshold in order to get votes on amendments. All will failand then the Republicans will pass the Trump/Musk CR. The democratic politicians are trying to fool, and make fools of, their own votes so they can pass the Trump/Musk CR. I cannot imagine a more insane betrayal. Nothing, and I mean nothing, stings like betrayal. Josh seems really well sourced on this. The fury will be incandescent. The democratic senators are going to take the Representatives with them. Nobody, and I mean nobody, will be safe from a primary. But it is worse. You cannot unleash this type of anger.
Josh thinks there is still time. Call the Senators. Do whatever you can. I am in tears ranting, “Why, why this type of betrayal? What is Schumer and his cronies gaining from this. Maybe new Teslas.
