This time it was a facility in Hamilton, Ontario. 80 cars were damaged with scratches, maybe keying, slashed tires and other damages. It appears only the showroom was spray painted
Deep scratch.
There have been other Teslas vandalized in Canada in various locations, but the amount here at one spot is the most ever. Scratches can be removed and tires replaced, and it's nothing like the vehicles that have been hit with Molotov cocktails in the U.S.
Looks like a side mirror got tweaked.
Tesla is under investigation in Canada for having pre-filled (read forged) thousands of rebate forms worth $43 million before Canada paused the program in January. Sales of thousands of vehicles in Canada all at once seems highly unlikely. Even having that many to sell is questionable.
Tesla is also a target in Canada because of the tariff war Donald Trump started. Musk's association with Trump makes him a focus of protest as a result, just like in America, where it is far worse caused by the DOGE antics.
Two days ago, Tesla was kicked out of the Vancouver car show due to "security" problems. Tesla was given the option to withdraw voluntarily. When they didn't, the car show organizers did it for them.
Tesla has gone so far as turning on the Sentry mode on all the cars at service centers and showrooms. They start recording when there is suspicious activity around the car.
The Justice Department says three people have been arrested for arson and vandalism. Saying that they face federal charges of 5 to 20 years in prison. This matches with Pam Bondi's assessment as well as Donald Trump's. However, they don't tell you what laws specifically have those penalties. Arson and vandalism, while felonies, do not have those penalties, and they aren't federal crimes. Bondi keeps saying domestic terrorism, but there is no law covering domestic terrorism.
Every news story just parrots what is on the Justice Department's website. Nobody ever asks which law?
Canadians are, however, getting into the protest act. There is an organized Takedown planned for the Langley/ Surrey border showroom on Saturday, the 22nd. Langley is 11 miles from the US border in British Columbia.
Canadians appear to be joining the fight against Tesla and Musk. The Takedown protests are the way to go. It interrupts the business, adds to the feeling against Tesla for a boycott, and makes prospective buyers have second thoughts.
Take Musk's money away. That works.
