As a disabled USAF Veteran, I tell you that after fighting for 25 years for my disability RIGHTS, I never take it for granted that my medical or dental needs will be met.
Project 2025, doesn’t know, DOGE doesn’t know WTF they’re doing. For decades, there have been issues with computer records, transitioning issues, one part of the VA not having the same updated information as another part, and system upgrade issues. FYI — I don’t recommend changing your name if you get married. Firing the VA OIG, and 17 other OIG’s did NOTHING identify, address, or to halt waste, fraud and abuse. DOGE has been quite successful at disrupting previously functioning programs and departments. The VA is no exception. Contrary to Sec. Doug Collin’s’ spiffy videos about assurances that Veterans will not be impacted by DOGE, skeptics such as myself, have been speaking up. Veterans in rural areas are already impacted. A February hearing regarding the ACCESS Act has a stipulation that violates the core agreement made in the drafting of the VA MISSION Act.
Despite assurances and ‘concern’ from Congress members about continuity of care, I remain skeptical. During Trump’s last term in office, I got off of morphine with the help of my VA pain management Doctor (who, thankfully, was able to get his Visa renewed) and while receiving Chiropractic care through Community Care. That continuity of care was necessary, yet the chiropractic visits were disrupted. There is a real difference between TriWest and Optum in getting approvals. Veterans deserve better, they make up about 31% of Federal employees. and have earned my respect, unlike some people’s children. If you have a chance, please reach out to your elected officials,
let them know what you think. Some of them are quite comfortable ignoring constituents.
