Ugh, it’s very early Sunday morning. As usual, I’m only now beginning to write the body of this diary. Mostly I had to pull myself away from Mood Fabrics’ website. I have been checking out the sales. As if I don’t already have enough fabrics here waiting to be sewn into my latest projects. With some of my planned garments, styles have already changed. Suddenly hemlines are much longer. Some skirts even skim their wearers ankles. I didn’t buy enough fabric to make the latest styles. Ergo, here it sits in stacks of large cardboard cartons.
Speaking of hemline lengths, that is one cultural sign that Wall Street big shots look to to get some idea for how the markets are going to do. This one actually has some merit. The stock market is, to many investors, one big confidence game. All sorts of factors breed into it. It takes a lot of confidence to wear a micromini skirt. If hedge fund managers see women walking the streets in minis it usually bodes well for stock prices. These days, however, most investors are likely pretty nervous. The current trends are more like those in the 1930s than the 1950s. They harken back to the Great Depression.
Meh, I’m not planning on buying anything but it doesn’t hurt to dream.
