Trump reading an Associated Press article, when he's kicked them out of the White House briefing room, and a place on Air Force One, is a stretch of the imagination. Somebody let him know and added the link and screen shot to Trump's post.
The AP story link.
The first picture in the gallery.
They picked the second shot in the picture gallery where Zelensky is looking down instead of the first, with hand to mouth that has him looking like Rodin's The Thinker.
"This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy."
Note that Trump used the double "yy" on "Zelenskyy" copied from the AP headline instead of the regular "Zelensky" he's always used.
Donald, he could have said much worse things. Like you're a Russian asset. A Russian propaganda tool. A dicknose. A laughing stock to the world. A wimp that couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag. A doorstop for Putin. Putin's lover known as Krasnov. He didn't do any of those things, although he was entitled to after you disrespected him. Zelensky has thanked America and the American people a thousand times over.
"America will not put up with it for much longer!"
America and Americans love Ukraine and Zelensky. It's you, America, and finally all of America, is learning to hate. You can't hide behind co-opted patriotism any longer. Kissing and hugging the flag doesn't deflect that you're a dictator and a traitor.
"...this guy doesn't want there to be Peace as long as he has America's backing.."
You want to make a deal for Putin because Ukraine is turning the tide with attacks into Russia. The ignorant populace there are now getting a clue about the war, besides the million dead and wounded.
Then the big lie.
"...Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S." Not true. Prime Minister of the U.K. Keir Starmer said that Europe needed America's help, and that the lack of U.S. support would make things harder. Not that it couldn't be done without the U.S. helping.
"Probably not a great statement to have made in a show of strength against Russia."
Europe has always shown unity in the fight against Russia, except maybe your other dictator-in-arms, Viktor Orban.
"What were they thinking?"
They were thinking you're a fool for making Ukraine support transactional (Hey, Donald, you're a trans!). Zelensky showed up to make the mineral deal, which you had already laid out, but then you reneged and demanded a "better" deal that was in the stratosphere. Then you blamed Zelensky and ambushed him in public.
What Zelensky said to AP was that the end of the war "is still very, very far away. I think our relationship (with the U.S.) will continue, because it's more than an occasional relationship."
"I believe that Ukraine has a strong enough partnership with the United States of America," to keep aid flowing, he said at a briefing in Ukrainian before leaving London.
This is what enraged Trump. Was it the "very, very far away?" Implying that Trump had no negotiating skills? Or was it saying the Ukraine had a good relationship with the United States, obviously, for all the support the US has provided?
It doesn't take much to set Trump off these days. You just read exactly what Trump read, so what was it?
It could be that Trump has been raked over the coals by the press, and enough Republicans, that he feels the tide is turning against him, which it is.
It's tragically ironic that Trump is shutting down USAID, when Ukraine needs U.S. aid. Will the backlash make Trump kiss and make up? Nope. He's got this thought in his head that he's in the right. It's Congress that needs to approve funding, but Weasel Johnson is just as bad as Trump. I'm trying to find a path forward and not finding it.
Only the American people can make a difference. JD Vance found out about the power of the people in Vermont. Trump needs to learn the lesson, too.
