Elon Musk believes empathy is the "fundamental weakness" of Western civilization

Elon Musk, the world's richest man, believes "the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy." Yes, Musk actually said that last week on  Joe Rogan's podcast. Here's that portion of the transcript:

MUSK: The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy. The empathy exploit. They're exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response. And I think empathy is good, but you need to think it through and not just be programmed like a robot.

ROGAN: Right. Understand when empathy has been actually used as a tool.

MUSK: Yes. Like it's weaponized. Empathy is the issue. Yeah, weaponized empathy. And. Yeah.

Explains a lot about what has been going on recently, doesn't it?

• The shuttering of USAID that feeds the hungry and cares for the sick around the world.
• The freezing and slashing of funding for cancer research and clinical trials (which I have documented here recently), that has left many Stage 4 patients facing uncertain futures and possible premature deaths.
• The gutting of NOAA that includes the National Weather Service, putting us all at risk from climate-related disasters that are occurring with increasing frequency and severity.
• Today's reporting that Musk/DOGE intend to cut 76,000 workers from the VA, once again harming the very people who have valiantly served our nation.

The list goes on and on, but Musk's lack of empathy and disdain for it -- traits he shares with Donald Trump -- are confirmed daily by his actions and those of DOGE. Malignant narcissists like Musk and Trump lack empathy. We are seeing this sociopathy play out in real time.

Is this who we are as a nation? What kind of people believe that empathy is a “fundamental weakness?” We know what kind. The worst kind.
