I’ve been researching, writing, and editing this post, for weeks. Lost track. A month maybe? At least. Then today, just as I was putting the final finishing touches on it, we had a huge electrical outage in my area. Lights went out, screen went blank.
From about 1pm to 7 pm. Lucky for me. I have several, perfect drafts saved.
And I save, save, save. Kos is smart. Lights came back on right after I posted. I always set to auto-post Schedule for later.
After a few times it is, so easy to do draft copies of your diaries. I have the whole process down to under 10 seconds. And gives me the confidence that I always have a perfectly edited copy, (or two, or three, or more). I write informative links etc. They’re not something that changes. Just morphs into a better version.
I Saw posts from other Kossacks about how they lost a diary.
It's so easy to avoid having, a “lost diary!” ’I’ve had this happen to me also, once or twice. I had tried to update and embedded a photo. Sometimes this doesn’t work for some reason. *Some sort of notice at top of page pops up. Says can’t use photo, or something). I’ve seen it before and know not to click ok on it. Since I continually Save, I just (x) out-exit the page.
I don’t know what it is but know that clicking ok, will erase my entire draft’s text Did that once. Even though I quickly just exited the text in the draft was gone! Never, click on ok. That erases entire diary.
I’m neurotic. I make several copies as I update. I just copy-past, new edit over copy’s draft. Often, I make second and third finished copies too. Sometimes it takes me months, years counting updating and editing to perfect my posts.
I always listen to Kos. I know how smart he is. He’s a lot smarter than me.
And I Always Listen To Kossacks Too! Thanks to the Kossack who advised me that too much bold was not good. I took their advice and scrutinized my bolding and yeah, too much bold, is very hard to read, a strain on the eyes. Bold is like a spice, salt, pepper. A dash when needed is sufficient.
I’m amazed at how smart I’ve become since knowing Kossacks.
After 17 years here at Dkos, I should have a PhD in Kosology! I’ve always been a hard worker and “quick on the uptake.” Again, as they say in New Jersey.
