This is the first time in many years that my taxes weren’t done by the end of the second week of February. I’m getting them out in the next few days.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

A literary history of indigestion.
From the BrotBox: An explanation of flours.
Recurring dreams. People have them for lots of reasons — mine are mostly a good hard kick in the psyche.
From American Vinegar Works: Panko crusted cod (or chicken)
The true size of different countries. The continental US apparently is a bit more than ¾ the size of the western bulge of the African continent.
Million Dollar Bacon
The evolution of the oven.
From Food & Wine: Irish potato boxty. I’ve never made these, but I’ve had them at restaurants. They’re very good, and I probably would make them if I wanted potato pancakes more often.
The woman who invented the dishwasher.
The best Yorkshire pudding.
An orchestra that plays only instruments made of vegetables.

I finally found the picture of different Hands Off protests around Oregon. As I recall, LaGrande and Roseburg are fairly conservative. I think Grants Pass is, too; but I’m not really up on what is and is not.
Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) posted this on BlueSky, on April 6

It’s birthday time in the family. There’s another bout of them in November. One of my college friends had her birthday last Thursday — she’s a week older than I am. My firstborn turned 47 yesterday. My own birthday is next Thursday (I’m sure you already figured that out), and my sister’s is next Saturday.
My college friend just contacted me on Facebook. She is sending me a birthday present this year — a picture I had no idea that she was doing. I think she did it because she knew it would never occur to me to expect anything from her, except maybe some good wishes.
My daughter is pleased with what I gave her for her birthday. We are going out for Thai food for mine.
I’m sorting my Kindle library. I have more than 2000 books for my Kindle — this is more of a production than even I thought.

Love you guys!
