Hiya, venthooligans! How was your weekend?
Friday night, under the nearly-full moon, I went to Fort Point, the Civil War-era edifice at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, for a performance of Macbeth. I've enjoyed many plays put on by this troupe that often partners with local parks for memorable performances. This time, while the venue and staging were certainly striking, it was less compelling overall, mostly because it was hard to hear dialogue over the roar of the tide and the cars on the bridge, as the performers didn't seem to be mic'd. oops. It's always great to visit Fort Point though. (Tip for tourists: if you ever go to San Francisco, skip Fisherman's Wharf and go to Tunnel Tops, Crissy Field, and Fort Point instead.)
Saturday night I attended a swell Passover seder at a friend's house. The proceedings were pretty short and informal, the food and company were great, and singing Passover song parodies set to tunes from musicals we all learned from our parents' records had us in stitches. A bunch of boomers-- I guess you had to be there.
In other news, this weekend I'll begin some travels, returning the end of May. Sooooo I may not have easy internet access, and won't be able to post here dependably. Does anyone want to pick up Mondays?
I'm going to Costa Rica on a tour, which is weird to me I gotta say, but my friend arranged it and I'm going along for the bus ride. Also the boat ride. Then we're going to Australia! and New Zealand! Places I never l dreamed I'd go.
The days leading up to a trip are always stressful for me, and I have more than the usual amount of trepidation about this one. For instance, will they let me back in to the country? I know it's not logical for me as a U.S. citizen to be worried about it, but these are not logical times.
